Simple summer gown for grandma as a gift
Hello hive
Greetings to you all @diy on this beautiful day, I hope you are all doing well, I'm doing much better here with my sewing skill, I find great joy in doing what I know how to do best, it is my pleasure to bring to you the simple armless short gown I made for grandma for summer.
For awhile now, grandma has requested me to make an armless gown for her which she can easily wear in the compound and around the neighborhood within short distance because of the hit weather, but because of my busy schedule, I have not been able to go to the market to get the fabric to use and sine then, it has escaped my mind that I didn't remember not until I read @monica-ene post about how she made a summer top for someone then I remembered that grandma also wanted me to make something for summer for her, I guess she didn't remind me because she was angry with me, but not withstanding, I still have it in mind to make the gown for her.
Luckily enough for me, a friend of mine was going to the market to get things for herself, so I asked her to get just 1 trouser length of fabric for me by 45", I had no reason to go to the market for now because of the cost of transportation fare, if I must go, I had to have some very important things to buy not just for a single fabric that cost less than $1, thank God my friend was able to get this flowery material for me and it was used to make grandma choice of gown.
This is very simple and easy to make, with the material, I folded it in two using the hip measurement divide by 4 plus 2".
On the folded fabric, I marked out the desired neckline, shoulder slant and armhole circumference, then I marked out the vertical and horizontal measurement of the bust, waist, hip and full length measurement, I connected the lines together and cut the shape out.
The front was cut on another folded fabric to cut out the back part with zipper allowance as described by grandma since that was what she wanted, if not, there is no need for zipper allowance for a gown like this but since she requested for it, I have to do it for her, you understand how this grandmas can be.😃😃😃
The sewing process didn't take much time time as it's just for me to join the front and back together with the side seam allowance and at the shoulder while I pipe the neckline and armhole circumference with bias tape and finally with the zipper at the back, which was exactly what I did.
Having the feelings that grandma will be angry with me, I never had it in mind to bill her for the fabric, I gave her for free as a gift and it really worked as she was happy that i finally made what she wanted. I was glad to have made it as well and that she accepted it was a great joy for me.
