Making my husband's native trousers outfit using Ankara fabric
Hello everyone
Greetings to you all on this beautiful day in this great community, I hope you are doing great. It has been a busy week for me and it's my pleasure to share with you all what has really kept me busy, I will be sharing with you today the making of my husband's native trousers outfit I made using African print fabric.
Recently, I made a simple gown for my mother in-law using this same fabric for a burial service we are all going to attend, it was a total of 10yards fabric which will be used to make outfit for my mother in-law, my husband and myself, I used 4yards for my mother in-law which was successfully achieved with a V-shape ruffles on the front bodice.
Now, I have to proceed to the sewing of my husband's outfit which will be a trousers and top but first, I have to make the trouser before the top.
Join me as I take you through the cutting and sewing process.
I folded the full length of the fabric into two equal parts and marked my starting point at the top, then I started with my measurement for the front part. From the top, I measured 2" for the band on the waistline from which I started the main measurement, I measured the waistline of 10" crouch 14", the knee line 22" and full length with 2" for the hemming, all the lines were connected together.
The front was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back with 1.5" added to the back part.
I measured 7" on fold by 16" for the pocket in two places for the left and right pocket, then I made a curve to form a pocket shape on it.
I notched on 8" and sew it on the right side after which it was turned inside out and top stitched on.
I placed the front and back of each piece and sew it together with 1" seam allowance by the side from down upward, I stopped at 11.5" and sew the pocket on it on both sides of the front and back.
It was top stitched on the front piece of the trouser and the same was repeated on the other leg as well.
The two were sewn together on the middle by placing the front to front and back to back, leaving an opening of 0.5" at the front for the rope to pass through.
The band was folded in with 2" and that was it.
Finally, I made a long rope and inserted it in the band, to make it easy to wear and tied.
I hope you like the beautiful outcome of the male native trousers I made for my husband.
Now that I'm through with the trousers, I will proceed to the cutting and sewing of the top which will be shared in my next post.
Very interesting set.
