Making a skirt and peplum blouse outfit for my neighbor for id el fitr
Hello hive
As we all know that I'd el fitr is just in two days time for all our Muslim brothers and sisters out there for the celebration of the conclusion of the Ramadan season, it's a thing of joy to see the beginning as well as the concluded period of fasting and for this, most of people here make new outfit to celebrate the I'd el fitr.
Though some people didn't think of making new outfit just like the Easter celebration last week, the economy of this country is really affecting most as most are not financially boyaunt to make new outfit, I could remember sometimes last year when we celebrated I'd el fitr, I made outfit for so many people, both young and old but this time, so far, this is the only outfit I've made, you can imagine how bad the economy can be.
This is the simple outfit I was able to make for my neighbor, last week, I made an outfit for my uncle's wife for Easter celebration, which was sent to her through my cousin, after making the outfit, it was worn on my manniquin so people can see it outside, that was when my neighbor saw it and told me she would like to make same outfit for herself for the upcoming id el fitr.
I made hers with a little different on the sleeves as I made an organza puffy sleeves for her on the off shoulder sleeves and it came out really nice.
To make this outfit, I used 4yards of African print fabric for the skirt and blouse.
To start with, I cut out the skirt which was a straight skirt with back slit, with full lining and zipper at the back.
First was to cut out the front of the skirt with the waist and hip circumference divide by 4 plus seam allowance and the full length of the skirt.
The front was cut out and placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part of the skirt with the butt allowance of 1" and zipper allowance.
The front and back were sewn together with lining and zipper at the back.
I proceeded to the cutting of the blouse as I drafted out an off shoulder princess dart bustier on a brown paper which was later transferred to the main fabric.
To cut out the flare, I cut out a 720° flare with matching colour lining.
The main fabric and lining were sewn together with crinoline to make the flare stand firm.
The flare was sewn to the waistline of the upper bodice and for the sleeves, I made an off shoulder sleeve of 3" on which I pleated my organza to make a puffy sleeve to the blouse, this came out really nice and beautiful, to add more beauty to the center front, I placed some flower applique to the center front.
This is the beautiful outcome of the outfit I made for my neighbor, I hope you like the final outcome.

Wow, I love the sleeve in particular, and the flare is giving. this is a job well done😍
It's my first time actually and I'm glad it came out really nice, the crinoline I added to the flare made it stand well, I'm happy you love my work, thanks so much @pjwelry
What material did you use for the sleeves and what is the sleeve style called? i love the outcome of this blouse and skirt, very beautiful.
I used organza, that is what we call it here, and the sleeves style is organza ruffle sleeve, you can check it out on YouTube.
Thanks so much for appreciating my work.
I like the pattern of how you often cut your peplum, usually full and looking good.
Well done dear
Thanks dear, I'm only trying my best. I appreciate your comment.

Hi, I am sorry to know the economy is bad in your country, here in my country it is difficult too, so I can understand your situation.
However the important thing is you keep working and doing what you love.
The outfit is really nice.
I'm grateful for sound health, despite the bad economy, we pray God see us through soon, I'm trying to minimize my spending just as others too, now, no need for luxury, so making new outfit is so difficult as things as very much expensive. I pray we will overcome this soon.
Thanks for your comment.
