How to cut and sew a 90° flare with overlapping upper bodice for my little friend as a birthday gift
Hello Creative minds
Greetings to you all from this end, happy Sunday to you all and I hope you all had a great time today, for me, today isa day for me to rest from all the work I did last week, thank God I was able to meet up with the delivery date for each outfit, you can check my blog for most of the lovely outfit I made and I'm sure you will learn one or two things from at least one of my creativity.
Today, I will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of this 90° flare gown with overlapping upper bodice as a gift for my little friend precious who just celebrated her birthday on 22nd of this month which was last week.
I usually celebrate my birthday on 10th of October and Precious also celebrate hers on 22nd of same month which happens to be my birth month. Precious mother is like a sister to me, we are very close and she loves me so much, the family are so accommodating and lovely, so every year, I make sure I get her something as a gift to celebrate her birthday.
Last week, I thought of what to get for my little friend as her birthday was fast approaching but there was nothing much I could do as I had just little amount of money with me, with the little I had, I thought within myself, why don't you make a simple outfit for the little, no matter how small, she would appreciate it. Immediately, I gave my neighbor who was going to the market the little amount with me to get me a yard of chiffon fabric which she did but unfortunately, the length was measured by 50" instead of 60" or there about, I was limited with the choice of outfit I wanted to make, looking at the fabric, I concluded to the making of this simple outfit.
Cutting and sewing process
First, I folded the fabric in a bais form or a cone like shape then I measured out the waist circumference from the measurement I took from Precious after which I measured out the full length by deducting the half length measurement.
The remaining fabric was used to cut an overlapping at the front after drafting out the pattern on a brown paper
The back part was cut out as well with the upper bodice measurement and zipper allowance at the back with seam allowance.
All the pieces were set aside as I cut out a cone sleeve with the armhole circumference measurement, it was pipe with a matching colour bais tape as well as the overlapping of the front part.
The front and back were sewn together after which the upper bodice was sewn to the flare and finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and I have a complete outfit for Precious as her birthday gift.
Surprisingly, when I saw her today, she was putting on the outfit I made for her, it was looking so nice on her as she and her mother thanked me for the outfit.
