How I creatively designed a 3 in 1 bookmark, phone pouch and pen holder from pieces of fabric
Hello needlewokers
A beautiful Monday to you all in this lovely community @needleworkmonday, I hope you are all doing great with your creativity, I had a very busy day today but I decided not to let the day end without me sharing this useful and creatively designed 3 in 1 bookmark, phone pouch and pen holder I made for pieces of fabric, it's with great pleasure that I bring to you the cutting and sewing process.
Sometimes ago, I made a bookmark with pen holder for myself and it was so nice, though it was very easy, simple and useful for the purpose I made it for, when my friend saw it, she admired it and asked me to make one for her.
As you can see from above, the one I made for myself was with the pen hanged but my friend brought the idea of making hers with zipper to secure the pen which I did.
After making the one my friend, I went ahead to think of a possible way to make another bookmark which can serve as a bookmark, phone pouch and pen holder, surprisingly, I added another pouch for other use like safe keeping of cards or piece of paper 😃😃. Apparently it's a 4 in 1 bookmark.
This is so simple and easy to make, just follow the step by step process and I'm sure you will like it, you can make for a friend as gift too.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process.
I cut out 2 pieces of 8.5 x 5" of fabric with 2 pieces of lining.
From same fabric, I cut out another piece of 10 x 5"
For the pen holder, I cut out 12.5 x 5" on another color of fabric.
To start with, I folded the piece for the pen holder in 2 and sew at the top, and the same was repeated on the 5 x 10"
I placed the piece for the pen holder on on piece of 8.5 x 5" and sew on both sides.
It was sewn in the middle to have 2 pocket for pen.
The other folded piece was also placed on it and sewn on both sides.
I took my zipper and sew it on the right side of the pouch with the zipper facing the main fabric before I placed my lining on it and sewn together.
I cut out an elastic band of 8.5 x 1" and sew it on the mid point of the other piece of fabric, with interfacing on the wrong side.
It was sewn to the opposite side of the zipper with lining.
It was opened to the right side and I top stitched on both sides.
I placed fabric to fabric and lining to lining as I sew it round leaving an opening on the lining to be turned inside out.
The excess were trimmed off and it was turned inside out through the opening on the lining, the opening was sewn close and inserted back to the pouch.
This is the final outcome of my bookmark with phone pouch and pen holder with an extra pocket for other use.
