Beautiful design of a fabric tote bag with zipper and outter pocket for myself
Hello beautiful people
Greetings to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you are doing great at your respective places just as I am doing here. It has been a busy week for me as I have a lot to accomplish this week but first, I have to make my own project which is a tote bag with zipper I made for myself and with great pleasure, I will be sharing the process on how it was cut and sewn, I believe you will like the beautiful outcome.
Since I started making different hand bags, it will be hard to believe that I have only one hand bag that is hand made for myself which I carry around, though i made some for myself earlier, but eventually, somebody somewhere will fall in love with them and I just have to let go and give them out so presently, I have just one for myself. Next week Sunday, I intend to put on one of my gown outfit which I decided to make a matching color hand bag for so as to compliment my outfit so I used the fabric I had at home to make this beautiful tote bag with zipper for that purpose. It has a outter side pocket and two handle with a sitting bottom.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process below.
I started with the cutting of 28 x 16" of fabric with interfacing ironed on it and lining.
For the pocket, I cut out 13 x 7" with interfacing ironed on it
It was folded in two as I sew on it, leaving an opening at the top where it can be turned inside out.
The edges were trimmed off and it was turned inside out.
On the main fabric at the mid point, I measured 3" downward where I placed the pocket mid point to mid point and it was sewn and top stitched on the opening to make a pocket.
For the handle, I cut out 2 pieces of 16 x 4" of fabric with interfacing.
It was folded to the middle then in half and sewn together on both sides.
I measured 2" away from the middle of the main bag and the handle were sewn to it at the top.
It was folded in two as I cut out 2" from both corner at the bottom.
It was sewn on both sides and the bottom as well to form a seated bottom.
The same was repeated on the lining leaving an opening by the side where it can be turned on out.
To make the zipper, I cut out 2 pieces of 2 x 12" with interfacing ironed on it and lining.
It was sewn on both sides of the zipper of with the lining and a little pipe at the edge with the main fabric.
It was sewn to the top of the bag mid point to mid point on both sides.
The main bag was inserted into the lining right side to right side and it was sewn round.
Finally, it was turned inside out through the opening on the lining after which the lining was top stitched on.
This is the final outcome of my beautiful tote bag with zipper, outter pocket and handle for my matching outfit. I hope you like the beautiful outcome.
