A simple short gown with 3 tires flare for my sister's friend
Hello hive
A lovely morning to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you all are doing great, for me, it's a wonderful day as I woke up with a great energy to work on some of the fabrics I have with me just as I was determined to work on this fabric yesterday.
I had no reason to go out yesterday, so I decided to stay indoor, when I woke up, the weather was cold that I wished to be in bed although 😀😀 but a thought came to my mind that instead of being in bed for the rest of the day, it's better I make use of my time to do something meaningful, then I was filled with the zeal to work.
Sometimes ago, I made a post on a short gown with side ruffles I made for my sister's friend who ordinarily will prefer to wear a simple dress, most of her dresses are A-shape gown but when she contacted me to make an outfit for her, I made a short gown with side ruffles different from what she used to wear and the remaining fabric was used to also make an outfit for her daughter , she so much liked it and her husband was very happy with her new style of outfit. Since then, she promised to always bring her fabric for me to sew beautiful style for her.
Two days ago, I received a call from her that she will like to make another outfit which I agreed to and the fabric was brought to me, she left me to make the choice of outfit for her as she believes I will make something really nice and beautiful for her. I make sure to put into consideration an outfit that will look decent and beautiful on her and also have left over to make something nice for her little daughter as well.
Let's get started with the cutting and sewing process.
The style I intend to make is a short gown which is divided into 3 parts, from shoulder to waistline, from waistline to knee line and from knee line to full length.
First, I cut out from the waistline to knee line using the measurement with me to cut the front and back with zipper allowance.
Then I cut out from the knee line to the full length which is 3 tires of flare, using 3" difference for each flare wit the round knee measurement.
Lastly, after drafting out a princess dart bustier on a brown paper, it was duplicated on the main fabric.
All the pieces were sewn separately with lining for neat finishing.
The upper bodice was sewn to the middle part.
Then the 3 tires of flare was sewn to the short gown.
With a basic sleeve sewn to the gown and zipper at the back, I have my complete outfit.
Elegant style. It looks beautiful. You make it three parts and keep working according to your measurements and design. The final product is great! Well done!
Thanks so much @diyhub for your comment and support, it's really encouraging.
Hello friend, how are you? I love the dress, I really like the colors and the print of the fabric, but what I liked the most was the faralao, it has a nice detail, the design is beautiful, I congratulate you. Thank you for sharing such a great design.🤗
Greetings, I liked your style, the colors are striking and it is tight to the body, the flares below are beautiful, I loved it, congratulations.
Love the design, with the ruffles! Beautiful, as always:)
Thanks so much, I'm glad you love it.
You are most welcome:)
Oooh, @bimpcy - these colours are divine! The blue and pinky-purple are just wonderful together. And I love your tiered ruffles in the peplum - it makes the garment look such fun! It's really helpful for me too, to see how you shape a pattern, as I haven't made a pattern before - and only remember in my mid-teens using magazine patterns... I'd like to eventually make patterns from my own spontaneous intuitive designs. 😍
I love the earlier dress pair, for the mother and daughter: that is such a gorgeous idea!
