19 May Youth and Sports Day - Bandırma Ferry 🚢🛳️ 19 Mayıs Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı - Bandırma Vapuru

Hello everyone. As you know, today is May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. As a Samsun resident, the days of May 19 are more meaningful to me. 🙂 Last month we went to our hometowns to visit our families. My husband and I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful places of Samsun for the first time. Today, I want to show you a meaningful place both for May 19 and for Samsun. This is the Bandırma Ferry, also known as the Tütün İskelesi (Tobacco Pier) among the locals. Perhaps most of you have heard of this place from somewhere. In fact, I'm sure most of us have learned about the Bandırma ferry from history lessons. My cousin, who spent his education life in Samsun and I know he loves these places, will be very happy to see this post on @nerminyigit.

Herkese merhaba. Biliyorsunuz ki bugün 19 Mayıs Atatürk'ü Anma Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı. Bir Samsun'lu olarak 19 Mayıs günleri benim için daha anlamlıdır.🙂 Geçen ay ailelerimizi ziyaret için memleketlerimize gitmiştik. Eşimle ilk kez Samsun'un güzel yerlerini gezme fırsatımız olmuştu. Bugün sizlere hem 19 Mayıs günü için hem de Samsun için anlamlı bir yer göstermek istiyorum. Burası Bandırma Vapuru, halk arasında Tütün İskelesi olarak da geçmekte.⚓ Belki aramızda çoğumuz burayı bir şekilde bir yerlerden duymuştur. Hatta Bandırma vapurunu tarih derslerinden çoğumuzun öğrendiğine eminim. Eğitim hayatını Samsun'da geçiren buraları çok sevdiğini bildiğim kuzenim @nerminyigit'te bu paylaşımı gördüğü için mutlu olacaktır. 🥰

As we know by heart from history lessons, Atatürk and his comrades came to Samsun with the Bandırma Ferry to start the War of Independence on 19 May 1919. Then, important historical events took place one after another. For this reason, Atatürk stated that his real birthday is 19 May.

Tarih derslerinden ezbere bildiğimiz gibi Atatürk ve silah arkadaşları 19 Mayıs 1919'da Kurtuluş Savaşı'nı başlatmak için Bandırma Vapuru ile Samsun'a gelmiş. Buradan sonra ise dizi dizi gelişen önemli tarihi olaylar gerçekleşmiş. Bu yüzden Atatürk asıl doğum gününün 19 Mayıs olduğunu dile getirmiş.

As a Samsun resident, I have visited Bandırma Ferry many times. But I was only able to tour it once.🚢 We went on a school trip in middle school. I can barely remember it as I was very young at the time. Other than that, it was closed to visitors whenever I came. I don't know if I can keep up with the hours, actually I thought we'd catch it open this time. Unfortunately it was closed again but we were able to see it from the outside (via the pier). It makes me happy to see that there is a busy crowd every time I come here.🌼✨💮

Bir Samsun'lu olarak çok kez Bandırma Vapurunu ziyaret ettim. Ancak sadece bir kez içerisini gezebildim.🚢 Ortaokulda bir okul gezisi ile gitmiştik. O zaman da epey küçük olduğum için zar zor hatırlıyorum. Onun haricinde ne zaman buraya gelsem hep ziyarete kapalıydı. Saatleri mi tutturamıyorum bilmiyorum, aslında bu sefer buraya açık yakalayabileceğimizi düşünüyordum. Maalesef yine kapalıydı, sadece dışarıdan (iskelenin üzerinden) görebildik. Her geldiğimde ise burada yoğun bir kalabalık olduğunu görmek mutluluk verici.🌼✨💮

The original of the Bandırma Ferry was shattered by a sad story.🚢 The ferry here was built in the exact dimensions of the original. 🛳️There are important works related to the history of that period inside and outside. Again, models of Atatürk and his friends were built inside and outside the ferry.🗿The whole, which looks quite impressive, became a museum.🚢 References. As a Samsun resident, I feel proud and emotional every time I visit this place. This time it was more meaningful to visit these places with my husband. ❣️🌸

Bandırma Vapurunun orijinali hazin bir hikaye ile parçalanmış.🚢Buradaki vapur ise orijinale birebir uygun ölçülerle inşa edilmiş.🛳️ İçeride ve dışarıda o dönem tarihi ile ilgili önemli eserler eşyalar var. Yine vapurun içinde ve dışında Atatürk ve silah arkadaşlarının maketleri yapılmış.🗿Bütünüyle oldukça etkileyici görünüme sahip bir vapur müze olmuş.🚢 Kaynakça. Bir Samsun'lu olarak burayı her ziyaret ettiğimde gururlanıp duygulanırım. Bu sefer eşimle buraları gezmek ise daha anlamlıydı.❣️🌸

This photo is from our trip to the tobacco pier with @catslover years ago. We could not tour the inside of the Bandırma ferry that day, but we could see it from the pier. It was a fun and beautiful day. 🌸💮
