Shot My Very First Indian Engagement

Well honestly i've never been that interested in Weddings/Engagement photography because it’s not that easy as it sounds and for a person like me who sweats a lot Indian functions are just horrible 😂 and photographing them even worse. I'm actually happy with how the images turned out though, most of them were flawless except for some of them being grainy but hey it was a f1.8 after all.

I'd be great as a candid photographer I guess given the chance to shoot for an Indian Wedding no ?

Here’s some back story to this shoot, Last week I was in Chennai, India because my Oldest Cousin was getting engaged and it was an arrange marriage type of situation. It's basically two total strangers tying the knot and living happily ever after (If They Make It Of Course 😂)

My dad had come by 2 months back to help his sister with all the formalities and he told me in advance that he wanted me to cover the event as well (They Had Already Hired Photographers For The Event) but even I had to do it. I haven’t seen my dad for what 3-4 years now and I so wasn’t going to tell him NO 😂

So thats my Dad to the left, then comes my mom in blue with her head chopped off frame (I Was Using A 50mm 😌) Then comes my cousin and my dad's sister to the right, my aunt.

P.S I Recommend Seeing These Images In Full Brightness

All these Indian ceremonies require a husband and wife to perform the rituals and since my aunts husband passed away few years back (May God Rest His Soul) my Mum and Dad had to perform these rituals.

Uggh they look adorable together 😂 Mum was really happy with the images even, she said and I quote "It's like i'm reliving my marriage all over again"

I have used various combination of warm and vintage warm tones for all of the images i've shot

Here’s My Aunts Watchman, Oh He's Such A Gem

He didn’t see me the day I arrived, He noticed me 2 days later and he tells me in Tamil "Yours Raj's Son ? (Raj Being My Dad)" and i'm like yes and he was surprised because the last time he saw me, I was a toddler 😂 and he was like my god your taller than everyone in the family now 😂 Ah he's such a good chap.

This is where they engaged couple had to take the blessings of all the elders once the garlands and rings have been exchanged.

Now this has to be my favourite image of all, Mums missing because she went to have dinner she was famished 😂 So here's my dad, my aunt, my goofy self and my grandparents.

This was shot by the hired team of photographers but they goofed up with the shot, So they took two images, In the first image only my grandparents were in focus and the rest of us were out of focus and in the second image my grandparents were out of focus and we were in focus 🥲

I just merged the two in Photoshop and voila a crystal clear picture of the fam ❤️
