Work Hours and Job Satisfaction: What’s the Connection?

avatar

Everyone has to do some work at some point in their life, no matter what it is, some people get a very comfortable job and some people have to struggle a lot, it all depends on what you do, what your skills are and a lot of other things also depend on it and many people are very lucky, they get everything served on a platter but not everyone's luck is like that as we can see. people all over the world keep roaming (travelling) around these days and the trend of roaming (travelling) has increased a lot and the trend of working is also increasing in the same way, if everyone keeps roaming then who will work, many people want to retire early, this is making money on those people who are not even thinking about it, maybe they have never thought about themselves, maybe this could be the only reason that they are not worried about retirement or don't even know what they are thinking. Well, we all have seen how in many places, especially in that or other foreign countries, efforts are being made to make the working days four days and there are other countries also where efforts are being made to increase the daily hours.

If any employee wants to earn overtime money by doing extra work, then it is good. If you are forcing him to do something by force, then it is completely wrong. Though the working hours are said to be 8 hours, people keep working for many more hours than that. Sometimes the work becomes such, that it is not their fault, but they should not keep this in mind. Or I think that if the owner of the company does not care about this, then perhaps in the future it can be very painful for him and it can have a huge effect on his company as well. Because even though he may be earning money now, who knows about tomorrow? If you make any employee work beyond his capacity, then it will have a huge effect on his accuracy and other things as well. If the environment of your office is smooth and comfortable and people work there with a lot of enjoyment, then automatically the productivity in work increases, efficiency increases and many other things happen. If there is a pressurized environment and a little stressful atmosphere, then the work capacity and other things also get affected a lot.

I believe here that if the 5 day work week is reduced to 4 days, it will make a lot of difference because you can work for many years but if you have to work continuously for 4 days, you will get frustrated. You are also getting 3 days of leave but doing this will probably make a lot of difference in your life because you will not get time for your family and other things. You will just get busy with office work. It is not that there is work for 5 days everywhere. At some places people work for the whole week and in some places, they get one day off in a week. It all depends on what kind of work you do. If you are in the IT sector, you may have to work for 5 days but even in 5 days it is not like you are working for only 8 hours.

Many people work for 14, 12, or 12 hours and some people do more than that. I sometimes do a job of repeated hours and to tell you the truth, due to lack of any option, we do not do anything. They are also not able to do so because unemployment is increasing very rapidly and in such an environment it becomes very difficult to find a job and then it takes some time to settle in a new place, if you go to a new place then the expenses also increase and a lot of problems arise, even though your income increases but your expenses also increase if you shift to another place.

See, just like a coin has two sides, everything has two sides. Everything has some advantages and disadvantages. It depends on how you take it. I think that if you work for 5 days in a week and you get 2 days off, then that is also good because you are leading a relaxed life and you are getting time for other things as well. Yes, if you work for four days and then you are also getting 3 days off, but with 3 days off continuously, you might become a little lazy because believe me, Monday is a very tiring day for me because due to not working for 2 days, the body becomes a little lazy and its effect is felt on us the next day when we go to work. Maybe you too must have felt the same.

What I believe is that it does not matter whether you work four days a week or the whole week. It all depends on what your work environment is like. Some people are very happy with their work and they go to work happily and some people are unhappy all the time, they just have to go there and spend months there. It all depends on what your office environment is like, how are the people there, if the environment there is good then you enjoy working and you do not even care about all these things. If your office environment is not good, even if you work four days a week or one day, your mental state will remain the same. It will not make any difference how much you are earning or how much rest you are getting.

It has been almost 5 years since I have been working and I have become accustomed to this routine. Yes, sometimes I have to go to office on weekends or sometimes on Sundays because my house is very close. I do not have any problem with this because sometimes it is called urgent work and this happens everywhere and sometimes we work on weekends to reschedule holidays and it is a very common thing here. If your office environment is good, then it does not matter to you whether you are working for 4 days or 5 days. The 5-day routine is good because now I have become used to it and it is also good because sometimes two days seem very long to me and we have very bad work. I like my work and I also enjoy doing it. Sometimes I do not even know the time and sometimes it becomes difficult to pass the time because every day is not the same. But in the end I want to say that if your work environment is good and you are mentally happy, then it does not matter whether you work for 4 days or 5 days or not. Work for 4 days, 5 days.

Everything is true, sometimes having a 5-day routine leads to burnout but if you find yourself solving those feelings, it would be a great achievement, since as of this time we need to work due to some big changes that we feel in society.

Yes that is true, not all the days are same. Some days are good some are not, we should not overthink about bad days and try to keep our self calm and handle the thing's according. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts have a great day and week ahead ❤️🙏.

So the conclusion of the post is whether you work for 4 days in a week or 5 days, it does not matter.
The important thing is your office environment. It means a lot. If your office environment is good then work hours do not matter.

As you rightly said, it all depends on the environment we find ourselves and the demands in the office. Some places can be so like that and they force one outside the said times. The rate of unemployment is increasing drastically and no one wants to lose what's at hand

All of the points are correct. However, it all boils down to how much we love our job? I used to spend 12 hours a day at a call center job, work 4 days, off 4 days, I am pretty darn satisfied with the schedule, but the night shifts are just crazy. You don't get many calls in and still need to stay alert. If you miss one, you're gonna be in tons of trouble.

Most Asian countries like to practice "overtime" to encourage employees to stay back and be productive. However, I see that as a weakness in the working class society, where employers empower their workers to work with lower capacity but extended hours with extra pay. But then again, not wrong.

In the end, I think it's just how much an employee love what they do with their job. You will find one employee who loves their job so much that willing to sacrifice more time in completing their task and still ends up with a huge smile on their face; whilst the other asshole works half ass time and takes cigarette breaks all the time and still complains they don't get paid well.

To be sincere, it does not matter whether you work for five days or four of even three, but what truly matters if the environment just as you have rightly said. I believe strongly to that statement.

I have seen so many people who work the five days and yet still not accomplish their focus or aim of working. So, the power behind it is that, we all need to be focused in whatever task or work we are doing. This will bring the best out of us and as well bring about or enhanced workdays reduction.
