Ready for New Adventures!.jpg

This is our newest toy! A camper trailer that was given to us after a family member upgraded their one. It folds out to become a rather large tent with a large bed on top of the trailer plus an annex... and then under the trailer is space for a kitchen and storage space for food and blankets and all of that sort of thing.

I'm not really a camping sort of person... my wife is more for that, as she had grown up doing that when she was younger. However, I do like the concept of travelling in sort of self contained sort of way... I guess it sort of feels like a survival simulator or something like that! Yep, I'm nerdy like that... and the chance to pack out the kit with interesting camping gadgets is just too appealing to that side of me!

... I mean, I have already started looking at different types of portable batteries that can output 240V power! It is really quite interesting... and the camping equipment rabbit-hole is really quite amazing!

There are quite a number of things that we will have to fix up first... there is some rust that should be sanded back and then repainted, and we will need to get our car fixed up with a tow ball and some power connections to the trailer lights and brakes.

If the trailer is unloaded, we should be within the safe allowance for an unbraked load, but I would really feel lots better if the electrical brakes were also working. On the car that we borrowed to bring it back, we had expected the brakes to be working with the electricals from the car... but for some reason, they didn't work! That was a bit of an unwelcome realisation, but we did have a heavier and stronger car, so it didn't really matter.

However, we will have to have that looked at... I really really want to those electric brakes to be working properly!

So, get the trailer looked over... fit the car properly, and then get some interesting gear... and then we will be ready for some camping adventures!

Of course, we have to learn how to reverse with the trailer... and how to set up and take down the camper part... that bit is tricky, and will require a good deal of practice to get proficient at!

Looks like you have a great opportunity to enjoy camping adventures, travel independently, and enjoy the outdoors.

Yes, I'm sort of looking forward to it... even though I'm not really an outdoors sort of person!

I've always wanted to have one of those things but I opted for a rather international life instead. If I ever do find myself stationary in my home country one day I'm gonna get one of those.... and a fantastic mobile data package so I can go everywhere man.

Backing up a trailer is really hard!

I think it is a great thing, I think my international travelling days are over! Yep... I will have to get practicing on backing up the trailer, unpacking and packing it... all before I have a trailer grounds's worth of audience watching me screw it up!

I can see it now as you unsuccessfully try for the 17th time to back it up and people come over and ask if you want them to do it for you :)

I plan on hitting something much earlier than that... and getting help from people that are terrified that I will cause more damage!
