My Cafe: Manuka, AUSTRALIA
Manuka is a pretty popular cae and restaurant area in Canberra. Near to the public service areas and Parliament House, it isn't really the sort of area that we usually find ourselves in. However, this particular time, I did find myself here killing time with my youngest daughter.
And of the many places that we could have chosen to sit down and eat from, we ended up at this cosy little place called My Cafe.
The Space
Part of why we chose to sit here was the fact that it wasn't too busy, and it had a sort of "normal" feel to it... nothing too fancy, and enough space for us to just put our bags and instruments down without being in anyone's way. And also, not so busy that we would be pressed to move on quickly...
The Food
So, what sort of nice little things did we have to nibble on whilst we were waiting? For me a lemon custard tart... which ended up being a good deal richer than I had expected... thankfully, I had lots and lots of time to just slowly make little dents in it!
And for the little one, a Smartie biscuit! Which she devoured... what could be better than a biscuit... with Smarties?
... and finally a coffee for me. A flat white as always... looked decent enough, and it was okay. But not great... I think I would chose a different place if I was to get coffee only...
The Experience
The staff were pleasant and the food was decent... pity the coffee wasn't quite the same, but it didn't matter too much... at least the company was good!
So, the biggest draw was the ample space, the protection from the Canberra chilly weather outside and the quiet. So, in the end, a great place to just sit and pass a pleasant hour with one of the girls!
But I would be keen to drop by a different time to see what the cooked foods are like!

A cozy place to spend some time undisturbed by the crowd sounds quite comfortable and appealing to me. Being an improvised stop you can pass on the coffee detail, I feel that to get really good coffee, one has to focus on getting it. However, those desserts are definitely worth another visit. I hope in the end the wait wasn't too long.
Very nice of you to include the opening hours of the shop, it's very helpful.
Most places in Australia now serve pretty good coffee... so, I was a bit surprised that this was a bit under par...
Everything looks delicious. I am a pretty big lemon fan, so that tart looks just my speed!
Lemon tart is the best... but Lemon Meringue! The tops!

We were always big fans of Belluci’s in Manuka. 🤤
Your lemon 🍋 tart looks delish!
I've heard of Belluci's... might have eaten there once, gotta look that up again.
