Garden Blossoms and a Repair for Later.
It has been a busy week, travelling back and forth for work and then getting another concert ready for the university. So, not much time to potter around in the garden... well, that's not quite true... lots of time for pottering, and not so much time for doing stuff in the garden.
While my wife is swamped with performance work, it is up to me to make sure that the garden does get watered... and mostly, it is the veggies and fruit trees that need to be watched... the veggies need to establish, and for this I figure that a bit of extra water doesn't hurt, and the same for the fledgling fruit trees.
... and they are rewarding us with some really nice blooms! The apple flowers are particularly nice! We have one in full bloom, and another that is coming along!
... and our first tulip has bloomed! It is WAAAYYYY ahead of the rest of the tulips, but it is a welcome splash of colour in the otherwise very yellow bed of daffodils!
And speaking of colour, this lovely Kangaroo Apple tree is sprouting nice purple flowers to frame our entranceway. This particular plant was a bit of a touch and go for a couple of seasons, as it has grown in a way that gives it a pretty tenuous grip on the ground... the root system is shallow and not so secure, and for the height of the plant, it does make it quite unstable at times... especially when one of our kids decided it was a great idea to try and swing from it!
I probably should prune it back so that it has a chance to stabilise... but I just love the framing and abundance of flowers! But I will cut it a bit back from the steps...
... and the chore that will need to be done for later? Well, one of the wicking beds has a leak in the overflow pipe. It didn't seal properly due to the pipe being pushed up by the wood railing that is stabilising the bed. I think it is leaking under there... but I could not get the sealant in through the small gap, even when applying and smearing by hand. So, I think I will have to cut the wood a bit so that the pipe is properly squared off and then I can seal the joins properly.
Job for later... but for the moment, we will just have to water these lettuces instead.

What beautiful flowers, that tulip is beautiful, I thought it was a rose haha I saw wrong, I had two, none survived, it is a very beautiful flower 😍
The tulips aren't doing crazily great in our garden... some of them come up, but the majority aren't flowering yet. We probably need to put them in a much sunnier area.
Things are looking nice! Best of luck to you with the repair! Notching out the wood should do the trick I think.
Yeah, I think that will be the way to go. Notch it out, and then make sure that the piping isn't been pressed out of line. Still, if the other ones are anything to go by, I still might to seal them as well.
Probably a good idea to check no matter what!
Red apple flower?
Lots of plants I don't know....
The kangaroo apple tree with purple leaves...
By chance does it bear apple fruit too?😂
The Kangaroo apple tree is an Australian native, it does bear fruit... but it is more like berries rather than large apples. The birds love them though!
Ahhh
I see
