Delice Coffee: Canowindra, AUSTRALIA
Canowindra isn't a big town in country New South Wales... but I do find myself there often enough due to a yearly music festival. I'm starting to exhaust my possibilities for different places to eat and drink at... but I was able to find this little cafe that was just off the single main street of the town. I don't think I would have found this place except for the fact that I happened to be housed in a guesthouse just across the road!
I had just arrived after a drive from Sydney in the afternoon, and was just itching to get a little bit to eat and a coffee before an incoming rehearsal and evening concert. This was the first place that I could see within walking distance, and it looked liked there was space for an itinerant musician!
The Space
I'm not really sure what the building was beforehand, whether it was a storage building or perhaps a local grocery store? There are large and high tin ceilings and huge open spaces for large tables with lots of ample spacing. There was also outdoor seating, but the Sun was starting to get a bit hard in the afternoon...
There are lots of local produce being sold in the cafe as well... so, I guess that the place does sort of double as a sort of fancier grocery store. There are regular supermarkets on the main street, so this is a chance to fill a more locally orientated niche.
An upright piano sits along one wall... inviting those with the skill and bravery (or only just bravery...) to tinkle away and annoy the rest of the patrons! A Beale... an earlier Australian maker. Interesting, but not really a decent piano.
The Food
So, a little ham and cheese toastie for lunch/afternoon snack. It was really good... but oh my gosh, this was the smallest portion that I have ever seen... this really should have been beefed up a bit with a salad or something else! But it was really quite good... just a miserly amount (and I'm a small eater!).
The coffee was decent enough... but not the best. That honour goes to the garden nursery on the main street!
The Experience
I actually really enjoyed the cool seating space... and the food was decent, but for the price... it was a bit overpriced for such a small portion. Still, it was really good... but for future snacks, I returned back to the garden nursery.

It sounds like a place to visit. The building looks quite spacious. Oh the cheese toastie looks yummy but why are that small? I might end up eating four of those, lol.
In he end, it was just enough for me... it was really small, but I don't think I was quite as hungry as I thought! And these days, too much butter and cheese will cause havoc with my tummy!
