Borambola Sport and Recreation Centre: Borambula (AUSTRALIA)
This was a strange place to visit... I was here as the string tutor for the university orchestra (for which incidentally, I had such a great time with the fledgling professionals, but that is a story for a different time). Anyway, when I told my daughters that I was going to be here for a few nights, they were really excited... because, the older one had just recently had her school camp here. She was really keen to tell me about the archery, bmx biking, and kayaking that she had done...
... I'm not exactly sure that she really managed to get it into her head that I was going to be there for teaching and rehearsals before the orchestra launched itself onto their regional tour. Sigh... but what she did really did sound fun!
I did promise to show her which room I was going to be staying at though... I'm pretty sure that she had the dorm rooms, but I would be getting a teacher's place.
Now, Borambola is out to the West of Canberra, when you are leaving the ACT you will pass quite a few wineries... which I did make a note of, so that we could revisit them later in the year with my wife. Anyway, you leave the ACT in the direction of the Melbourne... but you don't follow the road to the south.
Anyway, it is a pretty uncomfortable road at the moment, it hasn't been divided into a dual carriageway, and so you are on a single two direction road... which is pretty damn dangerous. They are busy upgrading the road, so in the coming years... it will turn into a dual carriageway, similar to the one connecting Canberra and Sydney.
It is quite easy miss the entrance to the sport and Recreation Centre, it is a quick turn off from the main road... so, it does approach pretty damn quickly. It was a bit of a screeching halt for me... it may have been because I was going a touch too fast... but I would like to think it was more to do with the small driveway! (it wasn't that small... and it was marked quite clearly for a while... and I was following Google Maps...).
Pools... BMX course... large gym... Tennis Courts... all the things that we weren't going to be making use of!
So, most of the rooms are student dorm rooms... about 8 bunks to the room with shared bathrooms. So, the students were using those... but because I was an "adult", I got the use of the individual teacher rooms. I think that this place is quite a common location for ACT schools doing school camps... and it is quite easy to see why. It is a beautiful place, near to the ACT, with great facilities as well!
Anyway, I'm just going to finish up writing here as I will just let the photos of the surrounding grounds speak for themselves. It is a beautiful place... but not really too far out in the wilderness, and quite close to quite a few regional towns as well. The area nearby is decent wine country, and as I had mentioned before, we will be revisiting to see what there is on offer at the cellar doors!

Did you not have time to make use of the facilities or not included in whatever package you had? 🙃
Well, the students did end up doing some activities... but I had to give lessons during that time. I did want to do the archery though... I used to do that when I was younger, and would have liked to do it again. I do have to find a sport though... perhaps fencing.
Looks like a beautiful place to me. Do you live around that area?
Nearby... about one hour drive away I think... or was it two?
Looks like you got some nice weather, hopefully not too cold
