Bentspoke: Brindabella Cider

As part of my ongoing campaign to find the best breweries and distilleries on a new continent, I have been searching around for a decent cider that would replace the English and French ones that I was really fond of when I was living in Europe. Needless to say, it would be just too expensive to import those brands now... so, I have been hunting around for something closer to home.

Now, I know that there is a good one that I really like from Victoria that I had tried when I was visiting my brother... and I will order a batch of that when I have a moment. Actually, I should probably just order that batch when I finish writing this post!

Anyway, I had tried several local ciders that I had purchased from the local show. These were all made by the same small batch manufacturer, and I was a bit underwhelmed... they were a bit watery for my taste, but at least they weren't crazily sweet like most of the mainstream brands.

So, that shot in the dark was taken.... and unfortunately, a bit of a miss. So, when I was ordering another batch of beers and ales from a local brewer, I was quite pleasantly surprised to see that they were also offering a cider and also a ginger beer as well! Plop... instant additions to the online shopping cart! And then to the onerous task of selecting ales and beers... I could justify the one of everything approach!

... and how was this Brindabella Cider? Nice colour... crisp taste, only a slight hint of wateriness. Definitely much better than the other local option, and a good local buy. But I'm not convinced that it was better than the Victorian one that I had at my brother's place. It is too hard to tell when they aren't side by side... so, I'm afraid that I'm going to have order a batch of the other... just to taste test.
