Strolling through Trafalgar Square: fountains and lions in a perfect London expression | MONOMAD Challenge

Hello my friends from Liketu and Black and White community! Today I am in this #monomad challenge remembering my days in London. I visited Trafalgar Square on the last day of my week there and as I'm clearing storage space to not pay so much, hehe, I wanted to freeze this moment on my blog on Hive, the nicest place where I could save it.

Trafalgar Square honors a battle with the same name that existed between France, Spain and United Kingdom, where the latter came out victorious. You can find more data on the Wikipedia website.

In this square there are two large fountains and one of its icons is Nelson's Column, which you can see in the pictures. In addition, you can find in front of this column the National Gallery, with different works of art. The truth is that I did not go inside, but I asked someone who was passing by to take a picture. In this square the lions are also very characteristic and in the fountains you can see tritons, these male fable beings with a tail like the mermaids, they are together with other marine beings.

The square is beautiful, but its concept is very different from the squares in Argentina for example, as there is almost no green here. But of course, London compensates that its squares are made of concrete with its huge parks and gardens that fulfill the true function of green lung of the city.

Another attractive aspect of the square is that there are usually artists drawing live, which offers a nice entertainment, as well as the possibility of buying some unique artwork.

People pass through there naturally, and although it is one of the recommended places to visit if you go to London, I seemed to see more locals or people living there, than tourists. The thing is that there are places in London that were crowded with people, such as the bridges, especially the London Bridge, or Abbey Road, but it was not like that with this square, on the contrary, there was a certain calm there even though it is in the middle of the city.

I hope you liked it my friends. I will be walking you through these places partly to remember and partly to be able to make more storage space.

My only memory of Trafalgar Square was years and years ago when the main attraction was pigeons, 100’s maybe 1000’s of them, sellers of seeds provided food for them and people packed the square to feed them. Now thankfully that practice has stopped. It also featured in Mary poppins, the original film from the 60’s…….. “feed the birds tuppence a bag’ was the song that featured it,

Great shots by the way, sorry I ramble on a bit at times
