Powerful feeling - THANKSGIVING: Sometimes to appreciate what we have, it is necessary to take perspective
Hello my dear friends, this is my first post in your beautiful community!! My name is Belén and today I want to share with you a beautiful experience that I’m living and enjoying as never before in my country. When I decided to come back for a while, I forgot that the World Cup would take place this year, so it was not one of the factors I analyzed when I was making the decision.
Changing your perspective always makes you grow
You see... I was born and raised in Argentina, but I always considered myself from everywhere and in fact last year I wanted to emigrate, spending 10 months out of the country. However, if there is something that unites all the Argentinian people around the world, it is football and I am not left out in the World Cups, I also get excited at these moments.
With the difficulties that this country is going through socially, economically and politically, soccer seems to make people forget their problems and makes them focus their attention on the national team and its plays.
With this post I intend to talk about THANKSGIVING and CONTENTMENT. When you are far away from your homeland, you may remember things with love, you may miss, but if that person returns for some reason and stays for a while in the country you left, you will begin to appreciate things that you were not able to see before.
Sometimes you have to take a certain perspective to be able to see with your heart what is in front of you, and I think in a way that happened to me. I had to make peace with this space, and that's what I'm accomplishing.
Many say that things are valued when they are lost, they may be, but I would like to add with these words that sometimes when you make a change of focus, a zoom. When certain movements are made that change the pieces of place, then we are able to observe the same thing from another glass, and in that way, we evolve as beings and also as a society.
The union of a people beyond all difference
Yesterday after the match against Australia, I decided to go out and see what was going on in the streets of my city, the province of Mendoza, which in fact several people are already spreading the word that it is the most beautiful in the country. And do you want me to tell you a secret? Not to be Mendoza, but I agree with all those people, hehe.
Yesterday I went to Kilómetro 0 (zero), the place where the Peatonal Sarmiento and San Martin Street meet and which is currently the meeting point for Mendocinas in case of protests or celebrations.
I was at home, because by cabala I have been watching the games alone, but yesterday I changed and went out to see how the people were celebrating.
Honestly, I have a deep love for all countries. I know this may sound strange, but I don't see countries, I see people living in places either because they were born there, or because they chose those places as home, and I believe that the names of the countries respond to political, economic and also social processes, of course. But we, their inhabitants, are more than that.
The sweet sense of belonging.
However, yesterday my skin crawled when I saw the blue and white color of the Argentine flag staining the streets of downtown. And I saw it live and direct, and I paid enough attention to feel my city.
I looked at our characteristic trees (plane trees and mulberry trees), I saw our signs in Spanish, I looked at the signs that said "Ciudad de Mendoza" and I looked at the sky and saw in it, the same colors of the flag of the country where I was born.
You see, I never missed this place when I left. Let's see, at times I wanted to walk through San Martin Park, which I love and that has accompanied me since I started playing sports, but I never felt the need.
And this feeling of love for being here, I know it doesn't change that. But there is something I can't deny and that is that after being away for so long, today I value these streets, these people, this tradition much more.
And I like very much to be able to feel this, I am very grateful to be able to be impregnated with these beautiful, positive emotions and sensations, of union, of friendship, of success. Because in truth, I am having it thanks to my country.
