Moro’s Garden Field, a corner of Madrid to get lost in

Next to the Royal Palace of Madrid, there is a hideaway of this great city, known as Campo del Moro. Today, my friends from Hive, I'm taking them for a walk there so we can walk together through these wonderful groves.

I told them that I really liked Madrid, but of course, I spent 6 days there and somehow I felt that there was no nature nearby. There is no coast there and at first sight, it was impossible to see that in this city there were mountains in the distance. So I tried to get as close as possible to as many parks and greenery as possible. Among them, I can mention El Retiro Park for example, which I have already told you a little about.

Another place I went to is the Campo del Moro, also known as Campo de los Jardines del Moro. It is a huge place, which as I said, is next to the Royal Palace, west of the city.

When you walk along the sidewalk, you don't even know that there is a park there, because there are fences and many trees. But then you find the longed-for path, which consists of a staircase that descends to reach the gardens.

A un costado del Palacio Real de Madrid, se encuentra un escondite de esta gran ciudad, conocido como Campo del Moro. Hoy, mis amigos de Hive, me los llevo a pasear por allí para que recorramos juntos estas maravillosas arboledas.

Les he comentado que Madrid me gustó mucho, pero claro, pasé allí 6 días y de alguna manera sentía que no había naturaleza cerca. No hay costa allí y a simple vista, era imposible observar que en esta ciudad hubiesen montañas en las lejanías. Por ello busqué la manera de acercarme a la mayor cantidad posible de parques y espacios algo más verdes. Entre ellos, puedo mencionar al Parque El Retiro por ejemplo, del cual ya les he hablado un poco.

Otro de los lugares a los que fui, es el Campo del Moro, también conocido como Campo de los Jardines del Moro. Se trata de un lugar inmenso, que como comentaba, está a un costado del Palacio Real, al oeste de la ciudad.

Cuando uno va caminando por la vereda del costado, ni siquiera se entera de que allí hay un parque, pues hay unas rejas y muchos árboles. Pero luego se encuentra la añorada, que consiste en una escalera que desciende hasta llegar a los jardines.

There were not too many people the day I went, and somehow it seemed that I was entering a somewhat mysterious space, because when I went down those stairs, everything was full of vegetation and the ground was very wet.

However, as soon as I reached the base, I looked up and saw a green wonder spread out in front of me, with a fountain inside, precisely in the center. And right next to where I was, there were umbrellas and chairs waiting for visitors to sit down and enjoy a coffee with one of the most beautiful views in Madrid.

The Campo del Moro was already making me fall in love, as it offered me exactly what I was looking for, which was to get away for a moment from the big city of Madrid.

No había demasiada gente el día que fui, y de alguna manera parecía que me estaba adentrando en un espacio algo misterioso, ya que al bajar esas escalinatas, se veía todo repleto de vegetación y la tierra estaba bien húmeda.

Sin embargo, ni bien llegué a la base, levanté la vista y vi que se extendía frente a mí una maravilla verde que contaba con una fuente en el interior, precisamente en el centro. El Campo del Moro ya me estaba enamorando, ya que me ofreció justamente lo que buscaba, que era alejarme por un momento de la gran ciudad madrileña.
