Manifest: Strength in Numbers, a fourth season as compelling as the first

Hello my dear hivers! I hope you are having a great day! This time I bring you the review of the 4th season of the series Manifest, one that as you know, I loved, as I commented in My review, from season 1 to 3, I leave it here in case you want to read that first one and this one after, well, I must say that I also liked this season quite a lot.

Before I continue, I want to point out that the first seasons always seem better to me, between 1 and 3 of most of the series I have seen, there is the magic. What happens is that in a third season one is already fond of the series, then a fourth, fifth, sixth, always come in handy.

Of course there are series like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, whose final seasons have been wonderful, and among them several more, but we are talking about series, aren't we? Here I add comedies like Friends or The Big Bang Theory, which although with very different genres and one quite challenging to buy the public, have managed to sustain the audience until 10 and more seasons.

Manifiesto: La Unión hace la Fuerza, una cuarta temporada tan atrapante como las primeras

Hola mis queridos hivers! Espero que estén pasando un hermoso día! En esta ocasión les traigo la reseña de la 4ta temporada de la serie Manifiesto, una que como saben, me encantó, tal como comenté en Mi reseña, de la temporada 1 a la 3, la dejo aquí por si quieren leer aquella primera y está después, pues bien, debo decir que esta temporada tambiién me gustó bastante.

Quiero acotar antes de continuar, que siempre las primeras temporadas me parecen mejores, entre la 1 y la 3 de la mayoría de las series que he visto, está la magia. Lo que ocurre es que en una tercera temporada uno ya está encariñado con la serie, entonces una cuarta, quinta, sexta, siempre vienen muy bien.

Claro que hay series como Game of Thrones o Breaking Bad, cuyas temporadas finales han sido maravillosas, y entre ellas varias más, pero estamos hablando de las series, ¿no? Aquí agrego a comedias como Friends o The Big Bang Theory, que aunque con géneros muy distintos y uno bastante desafiante para comprarse al público, han sabido sostener a la audiencia hasta las 10 y más temporadas.

Let's go back to Manifesto, I went off on a tangent.

The fourth season of this series was necessary, and it has 2 parts, so in total there are 20 new episodes. It was not an extension of a third season that could have ended, since the story had been left open, unfinished. The followers of Manifesto were waiting to know what happened with the calls, with the passengers, with the deaths, with "good" and "evil" that had begun to take place in the story.

In a very interesting way, Manifest introduces the biblical history belonging to the religions that could be Judaism or Catholicism, which take into account the "Old Testament", where they talk about Noah's Ark, Adam and Eve. Although then they talk about the Apocalypse, so there are different religions to which they could refer.

Regresemos a Manifiesto, que me fui por las ramas.

La cuarta termporada de esta serie, era necesaria y tiene 2 partes, así que en total son 20 episodios nuevos. No se trataba de un alargue ante una tercera temporada que podría haber tenido fin, ya que la historia había quedado abierta, inconclusa. Los seguidores de Manifiesto estábamos expectantes para saber qué paso con las llamadas, con los pasajeros, con las muertes, con “el bien” y “el mal” que habían empezado a tener lugar en la historia.

Y es que de una manera sumamente interesante, Manifiesto introduce a la historia bíblica perteneciente a las religiones que podrían ser el judaísmo o el catolicismo, que toman en cuenta el “Antiguo Testamento”, en donde se habla del Arca de Noé, de Adan y Eva. Aunque luego hablan del Apocalipsis, por lo que hay diferentes religiones a las que podrían hacer referencia.

There is a lot of mention of "letting go", this concept is elaborated from the most difficult, which could be to let go of a son or a father, knowing that he is there in front of you, but that you have to accept "the way things are". And I think that letting go, is an idea that runs through the whole series from the beginning, as well as acting from the good.

La cuestión es que a lo largo de la cuarta temporada, con sus dos partes, los personajes empiezan a atravesar diferentes desafíos en los que su sistema de valores se ve puesto en jaque. Tienen que elegir entre ellos y los demás, casi de manera permanente.

Se menciona mucho el “dejar ir”, se elabora este concepto desde lo más difícil, que podría ser dejar ir a un hijo o a un padre, sabiendo que esta ahí frente a uno, pero que hay que aceptar “las cosas como son”. Y es que creo que el soltar, es una idea que atraviesa a toda la serie desde el principio, al igual que el actuar desde el bien.

Duality

In this fourth season all this is sharpened and evidenced, and the sacrifices of protagonists such as Cal, Michaela or Ben, make it clear that human goodness is possible, and that it is simply a matter of deciding to act from the light.

Manipulation is also observed, on the negative side of the scale, with Angelina as the leader, with a speech where she believes she is a chosen one who will save the world by killing people, and thus dragging others with her, more beings that will serve to act from that evil.

The series also presents "duality" as the basis of life in any form, since there is the same blue light that unites extreme goodness and dedication with the most macabre of evils, and it is only a matter of what each of the bearers of that light chooses.

This could be interpreted as something that dwells in each of us, good and evil, light and darkness, and we have the freedom to decide in which field of life to play.

Dualidad

En esta cuarta temporada todo esto se agudiza y se evidencia, y los sacrificios de los protagonistas como Cal, Michaela o Ben, dejan en claro que la bondad humana es posible, y que sencillamente se trata de decidir actuar desde la luz.

También se observa la manipulación, en el lado negativo de la balanza, con Angelina como líder, con un discurso en donde cree que es una elegida que va a a salvar al mundo matando a personas, y así arrastra a otros con ella, a más seres que le servirán para actuar desde esa maldad.

La serie presenta también a la “dualidad” como base de la vida en cualquier forma, ya que hay una misma luz azul que une a la extrema bondad y entrega con el más macabro de los males, y solamente se trata de lo que cada una de las personas portadoras de esa luz, elija.

Esto podría interpretarse como algo que habita en cada uno de nosotros, el bien y el mal, la luz y la oscuridad, y nosotros tenemos la libertad de decidir en qué campo de la vida jugar.

Time

There was always a play with time in Manifest, from the opening moment, where the plane disappears, and the fourth season continues with that "we don't quite know what year it is" premise.

Although they seem to have settled into their reality, even with the "calls", with their lack of freedom for being the passengers of flight 828 and so on, at the end of the season, that is, when it ends, there is an absolute twist of questions that leave you with your mouth open, and of course make you think a little further. Would it have been a kind of final judgment?

Tiempo

Siempre hubo un juego con el tiempo en Manifiesto, desde el momento inicial, en donde desaparece el avión, y la cuarta temporada continúa con esa premisa de “no sabemos muy bien en qué año estamos”.

Aunque ellos parecen haberse acomodado a su realidad, aún con las “llamadas”, con su falta de libertad por ser los pasajeros del vuelo 828 y demás, al final de la temporada, es decir, cuando termina, hay un giro absoluto de cuestiones que te dejan con la boca abierta, y claro que te hacen pensar un poco más allá. ¿Habrá sido una especie de juicio final?

Values

In addition to the aforementioned in relation to goodness (and its opposite, evil), in Manifest there has always been a very clear and in my opinion, excellent diversity of lifestyles. Sexual tastes, nationalities, ways of being of each person have always been shown very naturally and I greatly appreciate when on TV, these topics are treated with respect and spontaneity.

Likewise, values such as flexibility in the face of drastic changes in destiny, understanding, companionship, unconditionality, are central axes in Manifiesto. I think this is beautiful, because the fact that this is promoted in a television program for all ages, also tells us about a positive message that is being spread by the creators.

Valores

Además de lo mencionado en relación a la bondad (y a su opuesto, la maldad), en Manifiesto siempre ha habido una diversidad de estilos de vida muy claro y a mi parecer, excelente. Los gustos sexuales, las nacionalidades, las formas de ser de cada persona siempre se han mostrado muy naturales y aprecio enormemente cuando en la televisión, estos temas se tratan con respeto y espontaneidad.

Igualmente valores como la flexibilidad ante cambios drásticos del destino, la comprensión, la compañía, la incondicionalidad, son ejes centrales en Manifiesto. Esto me parece hermoso, porque el hecho de que se promueva esto en un programa de television para todas las edades, también nos habla de un mensaje positivo que se está difundiendo por parte de los creadores.

Opinion

From what I have been telling you, you can infer that I liked Manifesto very much. From the beginning I recommended it and I would continue to do so.

I am going to highlight some ideas that came to me while watching this last season that I think are quite interesting as teachings from the series:

Unity is strength. It's a common saying, but Manifesto shows numerous examples of this.
Justice always plays its part
To forgive others, but mainly to forgive oneself, is the key to be happy in freedom.
Believing in others and daring to give yourself can save your life.
Empathy is the key to building a human network of real love.

I hope you can watch this season and if you don't know about this series, I recommend it in its entirety.

Por lo que les he ido comentando, pueden inferir que Manifiesto me gustó mucho. Desde el principio la recomendé y lo seguiría haciendo.

Voy a destacar algunas ideas que me surgieron mientras veía esta última temporada que creo que son bastante interesantes como enseñanzas de la serie:

La unión hace la fuerza. Es un dicho muy común, pero en Manifiesto se muestran numerosos ejemplos de ello.
La justicia siempre juega su papel
Personar a los demás pero principalmente perdonarse a uno mismo, es la clave para ser feliz en libertad
Creer en el prójimo y atreverse a entregarse, te pueden salvar la vida
La empatía es la clave para construir una red humana de amor real

Espero que puedan ver esta temporada y si no saben de esta serie, la recomiendo entera.
