Let's take a walk through a monochromatic Madrid, Spain | My entry for today's MONOMAD challenge

Hello my dear friends of the Black and White community! It's been a few days since I've been here and the truth is that I don't really know why, since I love this community. With this post I’ll take part in the #monomad challenge of the day.

The previous days I have been in Mendoza, my city, but today we are going back to Europe, to contemplate a bit the streets of Madrid.

That city is not among my favorites. Not because it is ugly in any way. In fact it is very beautiful, as are its people. But because it is in the center of the country and precisely because it is the capital of Spain (which makes it even bigger), for my taste, it is too much of a city.

To be happy I need contact with nature, whether by rivers, mountains or sea, and in Madrid I did not find that, but rather large green spaces like the Retiro Park or the Campo del Moro that although beautiful, evidenced the human hand.

Vamos a pasear por una Madrid monocromática, España | Mi entrada para el MONOMAD challenge de hoy

Hola mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de Black and White!! Hace unos cuantos días que no paso por aquí y la verdad es que no se muy bien por qué, ya que amo esta comunidad. Con este post tomaré parte del #monomad challenge del día.

Los días anteriores los he llevado por Mendoza, mi ciudad, pero hoy nos volveremos a Europa, a contemplar un poco las calles de Madrid.

Aquella ciudad no está entre mis favoritas. No porque sea fea en algún sentido. De hecho es muy hermosa, como también lo es su gente. Pero por encontrarse en el centro del país y justamente por ser la capital de España (lo que la hace aún más grande), para mi gusto, es demasiada urbe junta.

Para ser feliz necesito el contacto con la naturaleza, sea por ríos, montañas o mar, y en Madrid no encontré aquello, sino más bien grandes espacios verdes como el Parque El Retiro o el Campo del Moro que aunque hermosos, evidenciaban la mano humana.

However, I looked for a way to enjoy the city and I did it. In truth it is quite difficult not to do so, because Madrid has different neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics and charms, such as La Latina, La Chueca, Malasaña and others, each with its own particularities and charms.

In this case I will show you pictures of some places that I photographed while I was taking some of my walks, where I show images of signs and names that caught my attention and I found funny, like "Calle del Rollo" or "Posada del Peine".

Sin embargo, busqué la manera de disfrutar la ciudad y lo logré. En verdad es bastante difícil no hacerlo, porque Madrid cuenta con diferentes barrios, cada uno con sus tintes como La Latina, La Chueca, Malasaña y otros, cada uno con sus particularidades y con sus encantos.

En este caso les mostraré fotos de algunos lugares que fotografié mientras daba alguno de mis paseos, en donde muestro imágenes de carteles y nombres que llamaron mi atención y me parecieron graciosos, como “Calle del Rollo” o “Posada del Peine”.

This time we will also walk through some places that are not very touristic, although in Madrid everything somehow ends up being touristic, but I mean little emblematic or iconic for the visitor (at least nobody recommended these places to me).

I'm talking about the images you will see from the Luigi Boccherin Park, Sacramento Street (perpendicular to Calle Mayor leading to Puerta del Sol, Emir Mohamed Park, Calle Mayor itself and Calle del Codo. They are all quite close, as it was on the same walk that I took the photos.

However, we will also take a look at the Bank of Spain, Gran Via and inside the San Miguel Market where I ate a calamari sandwich, these already well known by locals and visitors.

En esta ocasión pasearemos además, por algunos lugares poco turísticos, aunque en Madrid todo de alguna manera termina siendo turístico, pero me refiero a poco emblemático o icónico para el visitante (al menos a mi nadie me recomendó estos lugares).

Estoy hablando de las imágenes que verán desde el Parque de Luigi Boccherin, la calle del Sacramento (perpendicular a Calle Mayor que conduce a la Puerta del Sol, el Parque Emir Mohamed, Ia mismísima Calle Mayor y la Calle del Codo. Todas están bastante cerca, ya que fue en un mismo paseo que tomé las fotos.

Sin embargo, también echaremos una mirada al Banco de España, a la Gran Vía y al interior del Mercado de San Miguel donde comí una bocata de rabas (calamares), estos ya sí muy conocidos por locales y visitantes.

When I am in cities of this nature, so big, as I can't get lost and disconnect somewhere in nature, what I do is try to get lost in the streets. And in case I don't get lost specifically, I look for details that to the common eye may go unnoticed, such as small corners, narrow streets or very specific signs as it happened in this case.

Cuando estoy en ciudades de esta naturaleza, tan grandes, como no puede perderme y desconectarme en algún lugar de la naturaleza, lo que hago es intentar perderme entre las calles. Y en caso de no perderme específicamente, busco observar detalles que al ojo común pueden pasar desapercibidos, como pequeñas esquinas, calles estrechas o carteles muy específicos como ocurrió en este caso.
