Join me for a visit to a witness of world art, Louvre Museum, Paris

Decades and decades of welcoming tourists from all over the world and offering us the most valuable works of art that exist on the face of the earth, the Louvre Museum stands today as one of the most internationally recognized.

My friends from Hive and today from Pinmapple in particul September has started and I want to start the month with this incredible destination. I will take you for a walk to the Louvre Museum, which, although I visited in 2019, currently remains one of the jewels of Paris.

This, if I am not mistaken, was the moment when I decided never to enter a Museum again, unless it is a subject I know or like too much, for the Louvre presents unique works, works that a painter or an architect might even suffer a small fainting spell if they can see up close, but in my case, I resorted to Socrates' famous phrase: I only know that I know nothing.

This museum was the very evidence that I have almost no knowledge about art, especially about the works, because of course I know painters and sculptors by their works, but this museum goes much further.

Décadas y décadas recibiendo turistas de todo el mundo y ofreciéndonos las obras de arte más valiosas que existen sobre la faz de la tierra, el Museo del Louvre se erige actualmente como uno de los más reconocidos a nivel internacional.

Mis amigos de Hive y hoy de Pinmapple en especial, empezamos Septiembre y yo quiero estrenar el mes con este increíble destiño. Los llevaré a pasear al Museo del Louvre, que, aunque lo visité en 2019, actualmente sigue siendo una de las joyas de París.

Este, si no me equivoco, fue el momento en el que decidí nunca más entrar a un Museo, salvo que se trate de una temática que yo conozca o que me guste demasiado, pues el Louvre presenta obras únicas, obras que un pintor o un arquitecto podrían hasta sufrir un pequeño desmayo si pueden ver de cerca, pero en mi caso, recurrí a la famosa frase de Sócrates: solo sé que no se nada.

Este museo fue la evidencia misma de que tengo conocimiento casi nulo sobre arte, en especial sobre las obras, pues claro que conozco a pintores y escultores por sus trabajos, pero este museo va mucho más allá.

Well, although I knew little, I left the Louvre with a little more knowledge, hehe. There I also realized the importance of listening to the guides in museums, because it happens to me that I get distracted by something and I go to contemplate it, and so I miss many explanations.

That time I made an effort to pay attention, because it was the Louvre and I didn't know anything about it! And in this way, I have to this day, extremely interesting data, such as the number of works that are becoming dark, almost black. Although when you see them it may seem that it is part of the creation, it is because the pigments used by some painters, were very cheap, because it was what they could afford, then they were losing color, and in a few years the painting would not exist. This is one of the reasons why flash cannot be used.

Bueno, aunque poco sabía, me fui del Louvre teniendo un poquito más de conocimiento, jeje. Ahí también me di cuenta de la importancia de escuchar a los guías en los museos, pues me pasa que me distrae algo y me voy a contemplarlo, y así me pierdo muchas explicaciones.

Esa vez me esmeré por prestar atención, pues ¡era el Louvre y yo no sabía nada! Y de esta manera, me quedaron hasta el día de hoy, datos sumamente interesantes, como por ejemplo la cantidad de obras que hay que están tornándose oscuras, casi negras. Aunque al verlas puede parecer que es parte de la creación, se debe a que los pigmentos que utilizaban algunos pintores, eran muy económicos, porque era lo que podían pagar, entonces estaban perdiendo color, y en pocos años la pintura no existiría. Este es uno de los motivos por los cuales no se puede utilizar el flash.

This was the case of The Victory of Samothrace, a work that provokes tears of how beautiful it is. It turns out that no one paid attention to it, until it was placed in a large staircase landing, which can be seen from another part of the museum. Then it came to the forefront.

The Victory of Samothrace, as you can read in Wikipedia, represents Nike, the Queen of Victory and it is not known exactly who sculpted it. It is estimated to belong to approximately the 2nd century BC.

Algo muy bonito también, que explicaron, es cómo tienen que ir cambiando las piezas de lugar de acuerdo al impacto en los visitantes. Pues muchas veces comentan que hay piezas increíbles, que si están ubicadas en una sala, pierden por completo el atractivo, y se pierde así la creatividad de quien le dio vida, pudiendo pasar desapercibida por completo. Este fue el caso de La Victoria de Samotracia, una obra que provoca lágrimas de lo bella que es. Resulta que nadie le prestaba atención, hasta que la colocaron en un gran descanso de una escalera, que se puede ver desde otra parte del Museo. Entonces allí cobro protagonismo.

La Victoria de Samotracia, como pueden leer en Wikipedia, representa a Niké, la reina de la Victoria y no se sabe exactamente quién la esculpió. Se estima que pertenece aproximadamente al siglo II antes de Cristo.

Other impressive works

On my visit to the Louvre Museum I had the chance to see incredible works, several of which I did know about but didn't know were there, and when I saw them, my skin crawled.

Among them I will mention the Venus of Milo, which was discovered on the island of Melos (Greece); and *The Raft of the Medusa, a work by Théodore Géricault Source: louvre.fr. I also highlight, among those I loved, the one of the Old Centaur with Cupid on his back, which is located in the room of the Caryatids, you can also find this information on the official website of the Louvre Museum

Something that was in the Louvre at the time, was the portrait of the Mona Lisa. I did not see it. Let me tell you what happened: there was a line literally 2 hours long to see it for a few seconds, take a picture and leave. Well guess what, I thought it would be better to enjoy those two hours walking around Paris, hehe. My respects to the art lovers, I know many of you would have stood in line, but well, we are all different people, hehe.

Otras obras impresionantes

En mi visita al Museo del Louvre tuve la posibilidad de ver obras increíbles, varias de las cuales sí conocía pero no sabía que estaban allí, y cuando las vi, se me erizó la piel.

Entre ellas mencionaré a la Venus de Milo, que fue descubierta en la isla de Melos (Grecia); y *La Balsa de la Medusa, obra de Théodore Géricault Fuente: louvre.fr. También destaco, entre las que me encantaron, la del Centauro Viejo con Cupido en su espalda, que se encuentra en la sala de las Cariátides, también pueden encontrar esta información en la página oficial del Museo del Louvre

Algo que se encontraba en ese momento en el Louvre, era el retrato de la Mona Lisa. No la ví. Les comento lo que ocurrió: había una fila de literalmente 2 horas reloj para verla por unos segundos, tomar una foto y salir. Pues adivinen, pensé que sería mejor disfrutar de esas dos horas caminando por París, jeje. Mis respetos a los amantes del arte, sé que muchos de ustedes hubiesen hecho la fila, pero bueno, todos somos personas diferentes, jeje.

What I loved

Well, if anyone reads me you will know that I love moving around cities, walking, being in contact with nature, doing Yoga, meeting people and so on, so yes there was something that made me fall in love with this place, and it was its own architecture, both inside and outside.

The glazed domes that allow you to see the sky from inside, took all my attention. I think it was the time I smiled the most in Paris, because just that day the clouds were very beautiful and from inside and from below, they looked wonderful. It is something like a pyramid in which you enter slowly, until you reach a basement that is really fully illuminated by the same natural light that enters from all sides. A marvel.

Lo que amé

Bueno, si alguien me lee sabrá que me encanta desplazarme por las ciudades, caminar, estar en contacto con la naturaleza, hacer Yoga, conocer personas y demás, así que sí que hubo algo que me enamoró de este lugar, y fue su propia arquitectura, tanto por dentro como por fuera.

Las cúpulas vidriadas que permiten ver el cielo desde dentro, se llevaron toda mi atención. Creo que fue la vez que más sonreí en París, pues justo aquel día las nubes estaban muy bellas y desde adentro y desde abajo, se veían maravillosas. Se trata de algo así como unas pirámides en las que ingresas lentamente, hasta llegar a un subsuelo que en verdad está totalmente iluminado por la misma luz natural que ingresa por todos lados. Una maravilla.

This panorama is also extremely enjoyable from the outside, where you can observe how these glass pyramids protrude from the ground. When you see them, you know you have arrived at the Louvre, it is a very nice feeling, especially if you have heard a lot about it and long to know it, as it happened to me.

Also on the outside there are some fountains adjacent to some of the glass structures that offer incredible reflections of them, which vary according to the time of day, depending on how the sun's rays hit them.

Este panorama también es extremadamente disfrutable desde fuera, en donde se observa cómo asoman desde el suelo estas pirámides de vidrio. Cuando las ves, sabes que has llegado al Louvre, es una sensación muy bonita, sobre todo si has escuchado mucho de él y ansías conocerlo, como me pasaba a mí.

También en el lado de afuera hay unas fuentes adyacentes a algunas de las estructuras vidriadas que ofrecen reflejos increíbles de las mismas, los cuales varían de acuerdo al horario, según cómo impacten los rayos del sol.
