Enjoying a free show in Ibiza: recital by ‘El Canto del Loco’

Hello dear friends of Weekend Experiences!!! The other day we were with a friend walking around Ibiza town, or well actually we had gone for dinner at a place called ‘100 Montaditos’, and when we came out, my friend started to hear some music.

Then she said to me: someone is singing, there's a show.

The thing is that we started to follow the instinct of her ears, because I heard something really far away, but I couldn't make out what it was or where it was coming from. And in the end, we ended up in a part of the castle in the old town of Ibiza, in an area next to Vara del Rey, where people were starting to pile up.

On stage there was a guy with a guitar, talking to his audience, at first small, and then singing some international rock songs from the 90s, telling people about his first steps in the music world.

After a while, he began to sing a song that my friend and I didn't know, but that all the people who were watching him were repeating in unison.

It couldn't be, we really looked like two people who had nothing to do with the place we were in.

The song was in Spanish, our native language, and the boy was from Spain.

I googled the lyrics and came up with the name of the singer: David Otero, member of the band called ‘El Canto del Loco’. Songs like Estrellas y fantasmas, Una foto en blanco y negro, Tal como eres, seem to be really well known around here, so people were freaking out about this guy.

We couldn't believe we'd stumbled across that show. It's not unusual for this to be free in Ibiza (I asked my friend who's been here for 2 years). They usually do early open events: it was 11pm, with not extremely famous singers, to invite people to join in the parties that get going after 12pm.

So unintentionally, we ended up at a show that Saturday night in Ibiza town.

As I drive by bus, I couldn't stay too late, as that was going to be the first time I travelled on the Disco Bus, a bus that is not a disco, as people usually think when I say this name, hehe, but a night bus that connects the 3 most important cities of the island: Eivissa, San Antonio and Santa Eulalia.

Also that weekend, before finding this free show on the street, we walked around the stall for a while, where we saw some impressive boats. They were cruisers that had taken someone well known but they would not tell us their name.

One of them even had a helicopter on board. It is incredible to see these boats, the truth is that it is hard to believe the amount of money they handle. I'm sure it's all about vibrating on another frequency, they're like parallel worlds, heh.

Your night was certainly made even though it was unplanned and quite a feeling to have those old-time songs in our ears. Glad you picked up the lyrics from the net.

Your outing is such I would love to enjoy in my part of the world. Thank you for sharing

How cool @belug, I think that sometimes you have to get out of the routine and vary a bit to get new tastes.... I still keep saying that I'm getting to know places thanks to you.

Hello dear @galenkp, I made a mistake by adding ‘Eng - Esp’ in the title, because my post was only in English. Is it possible to unmute it? If that wasn’t the reason, I really would like to know it for the next time. Thank you very much.

Uuuuf El canto del loco, I didn't know they were still around. "Tal como eres" takes me straight back to my teenage romance ❤️😍 (I started listening to it now after more than 10 years).
