Excursion to the Temple of St. Michael the Archangel, Perugia, Italy
Hello my dear friends of the Hive community, I hope you are having a wonderful day.
Today I will take you on a walk to what a year ago started to become the most eye-opening experience of my life, and it is about more of this journey that seemed to have no pause.
Back then, I set out to travel to Perugia on one of my days off as a volunteer and stayed there for 3 days. One of them I made an excursion to the Temple of St. Michelangelo, which was quite far from the city.
Why excursion? Well, because I went walking, of course! If there's one thing I love to do in a new place, it's to walk it, even if the distances are long, because that way I discover hidden corners, observe the small businesses and cross paths with the "more local" locals, who are either sitting on the sidewalks, or working around, or going about their lives in whatever way they can.
That's right... when playing tourist, most of the time I try to get away from the tourist attractions, redundancy aside.
I have to be honest though, and this time it wasn't too long a walk, hehe. With a lot of slope, but not extensive.

That day in Perugia I woke up, looked at the map, and saw that something stood out on the side of the city. I zoomed in, and there I saw this Temple, whose images after clicking, somehow ensured a beautiful spot to visit. I did not hesitate for a second and went there. Later in the trip I would understand that many of the most beautiful places in Italy consist of these temples, sanctuaries or basilicas, which end up being attractive to all people, regardless of their religion.
This temple, it turns out, dates back to the late 5th century, making it the oldest church in Perugia. As soon as you arrive at the place, it literally gives the sensation that a light extends to the sides, and I don't think it's precisely because of a biblical and/or spiritual question, but the design of the temple, circular, with the rows of trees to the sides and the perfectly maintained removed pair, invite you to keep moving forward, while making you stop for moments to observe the wonder that surrounds you.
It was quite funny that when I arrived in front of the temple, I saw on the sides couples of teenage boys kissing, in a "secret" way.
The interior of the temple is beautiful, but it is in the video I have shared, because for some reason I only filmed and did not take pictures.
After this, I went through the Etruscan Arch, a beautiful space but simply inviting to walk through it, and then I went towards Via Cesareo Battisti, where I enjoyed a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Perugia.
Just the area where I arrived was full of people who, like me, were taking pictures of the scenery and taking pictures of themselves.
This area of the city, and Perugia in general, is quite compact. However, although the distances are not too long, there is a lot of slope, really very steep. And you can imagine that this sector is yes, given the view it offers.
But it was worth it. The old city of Perugia stretches out mistress your view from there, with its elegance and trajectory.
This was my outing that day, through that beautiful Italian city!
