A visit to the Lighthouse of La Mola and the homage to Jules Verne - Island of Formentera, Spain

Hello dear friends of Hive and Black and White community, in this #monomad challenge, I hope you are having a beautiful day! This time I bring you these pictures of the lighthouse of Formentera, which is really one of the lighthouses of the island. This one is called Faro de la Mola, the small island just south of Ibiza.

I found this Lighthouse very attractive because of how it stands out in the landscape. Lighthouses always look striking because clearly, they stand out within the average height of the topographic profile where they are located, and as they have the function of providing observation and guidance on the coasts, they can reach great heights.

Una visita al Faro de la Mola y al homenaje a Julio Verne - Isla de Formentera, España

Hola queridos amigos de Hive y de Black and White community, en este #monomad challenge, espero que estén pasando un día hermoso! En esta oportunidad les acerco estas poderlas fotos del faro de Formentera, que en verdad es uno de los faros de la isla. Este se llama Faro de la Mola, la pequeña isla que se encuentra al sur de Ibiza.

Este Faro me pareció muy atractivo por cómo resalta en el paisaje. Los faros siempre parecen llamativos porque claramente, se destacan dentro de la altura promedio del perfil topográfico en donde se encuentran, y como tienen la función de brindar observación y guía en las costas, pueden llegar a alcanzar grandes alturas.

Now, I have not seen so many lighthouses, but they usually attract me, and this one did it in a very particular way, because when you go on the road, you can see the end of the road and then the lighthouse and the sea.

I could not take pictures from there because they took me on a motorcycle and I do not have much experience with motorcycles, so I was very concentrated holding on to the vehicle and not knowing very well how to access my cell phone.

But when I went down, I could confirm what I could see in the distance: a beautiful lighthouse and behind it the Mediterranean itself.

The cliff that accompanies this coastal feature is really steep. It's as if they had taken a slice of land out and made it disappear, or else as if the land had been raised from the depth of the sea.

Ahora bien, no he visto tantos faro, pero suelen atraerme, y este lo hizo de una manera muy particular, ya que cuando vas en la ruta, se puede ver el final de la carretera y luego el faro y el mar.

No pude tomar fotos desde allí porque me llevaban en moto y yo no tengo mucha experiencia con motos, así que iba muy concentrada agarrándome del vehículo y sin saber muy bien cómo acceder al mi móvil.

Pero cuando bajé, pude confirmar lo que se veía a la distancia: un faro precioso y detrás el mismísimo Mediterráneo.

El acantilado que acompaña a este elemento costero es realmente pronunciado. Es como si hubiesen sacado una tajada de tierra y la hubiesen hecho desaparecer, o bien como si se hubiera elevado el terreno desde la profundidad del mar.

There was a local girl there who told me that when she was a child, a schoolmate lived there and they would get together to study or play.

This girl showed me something that I had ignored, and it is a tribute to the writer Jules Verne. I found it quite strange to see this homage to such a famous writer on a small island in the Balearic Islands.

Había una chica local allí que me contó que de pequeña, un compañero de la escuela vivía allí y se juntaban a estudiar o a jugar.

Esta chica me mostró algo que yo había ignorado, y se trata de un homenaje al escritor Julio Verne. Me pareció bastante extraño ver este homenaje a un escritor tan famoso en una punta del este de una pequeña isla de las Baleares.

It turns out that the writer was inspired by this island to write the novel Hector Servadac. I am not familiar with the novel but I am familiar with other books by this author, and I can imagine that the quality of the story must be excellent.

The point is that both the homage and the lighthouse rise leaving the sky behind, as if they were painted on a sky background (at least that day when it was completely clear).

Of course, in black and white these shots acquire much more power, because they show the neatness of the landscape.

Pues resulta que el literato se inspiró en esta isla para escribir la novela Héctor Servadac. No conozco a la novela pero sí a otros libros de este autor, y puedo imaginar que la calidad del relato debe ser excelente.

La cuestión es que tanto el homenaje como el faro se elevan dejando al cielo por detrás, como si estuvieran pintados en un cuadro de fondo celeste (al menos aquel día que estaba completamente despejado).

Claro que en blanco y negro estas tomas adquieren mucho más poder, pues evidencian la pulcritud del paisaje.
