This weekend I decided to visit the area of Catia la Mar in the state of La Guaira. On this side is the Simón Bolívar National and International Airport.

My husband's and my intention was to take a bath at the beach and spend a quiet and relaxing day. But, my husband had the idea of taking a walk before arriving at the beach.

I didn't object because I also felt the desire to explore Catia la Mar. I hadn't been to some places along the coast for a long time and this seemed to be the right time.

El fin de semana decidí recorrer la zonas de Catia la Mar en el Estado la Guaira. Hacía este lado se encuentra el aeropuerto Nacional e Internacional Simón Bolívar.

Realmente la intención de mi esposo y la mía era darnos un baño de playa y pasar un día tranquilo y relajado. Pero, a mi esposo se le ocurrió dar un paseo antes de llegar al balneario.

No puse ninguna objeción porque también sentí el deseo de explorar Catia la Mar. Tenía mucho tiempo sin llegar a algunos lugares de la costa y ese parecía ser el momento indicado.

After several kilometers we took the road to Arrecifes. There we found the Tacoa thermoelectric plant.

We stopped in front of a monument that pays tribute to the 20 Venezuelan firefighters who unfortunately lost their lives when the second largest fire disaster in the state of La Guaira occurred in the Arrecifes sector.

There are still many ruins and marks of that tragedy, which caused the Venezuelan people to mourn. The monument is a tribute to the firefighters and is a worthy representation of courage, effort and love for their work.

Luego de varios kilómetros recorridos tomamos la vía de Arrecifes. Allí encontramos la planta termoeléctrica de Tacoa.

Nos detuvimos frente a un monumento que rinde homenaje a los 20 bomberos venezolanos que lamentablemente perdieron la vida cuando se produjo el segundo desastre más grande del Estado la Guaira originado por un incendio ubicada en el sector Arrecifes.

Aún en este lugar se observan muchas ruinas y marcas de esa tragedia que vistió de luto al pueblo venezolano. El monumento homenaje a los bomberos es una digna representación de valentía, esfuerzo y amor a la labor.

We arrived at the town of Arrecifes and there we were treated very cordially by the people of the town. Many of them were sharing or offering their goods to tourists.

Arrecife is a small but beautiful town. It does not have many tourist attractions but just the location and the people make it special.

Further ahead of the town we did start to see other beautiful environments. On this day the tide was high. It was not the right time for a beach swim. At least not in this place because it is open sea and therefore the waves are strong.

Where we did manage to get in was in small restaurants and inns that offer services overlooking the sea. Judge for yourselves these beauties.

Llegamos al pueblo de Arrecifes y allí fuimos tratados con mucha cordialidad por las personas del pueblo. Muchos de ellos se encontraban compartiendo u ofreciendo sus mercancías a los turistas.

Arrecife es un pueblo pequeño pero bonito. No cuenta con muchos atractivos turísticos pero tan solo la locación y su gente lo hace especial.

Más adelante del pueblo si comenzamos a ver otros ambientes hermosos. En este día la marea estuvo alta. No era el momento indicado para darse un baño de playa. Al menos no en este lugar porque es Mar abierto y por ende la olas son fuertes.

Donde sí logramos entrar fue en pequeños restaurantes y posadas que ofrecen servicios con vista al mar. Juzguen ustedes mismos estas bellezas.

We entered the churuata Piarima and when we asked about the prices of food and drinks we noticed that they were not at all affordable. The place was lonely. I think that in order to promote tourism and increase the number of visitors they should have more accessible prices.

Unfortunately, the road was very lonely for a weekend. It is possible that the prices and the conditions of the road keep them away.

Further inland we got more beautiful sites. There are new ventures and young people encouraging tourism. I think that in a few years Catia la Mar, Arrecife and Chichiriviche de la Costa will be popular places.

Entramos a la churuata Piarima y al preguntar por los precios de las comidas y bebidas notamos que no son nada accesibles. El lugar estaba solo. Pienso que para impulsar el turismo e incrementar el número de visitantes deberían tener precios más accesibles.

Lamentablemente, la vía se encontraba muy sola para ser fin de semana. Es posible que entre los precios y la condiciones de la vía los mantenga alejados.

Más adentro conseguimos más sitios hermosos. Hay nuevos emprendimientos y personas jóvenes animada impulsando el turismo. Creo que dentro de unos años Catia la Mar, Arrecife y Chichiriviche de la Costa serán lugares recurridos.

Between Cups and Waves

This small space serves tourists offering food, coffee, cocktails and beers. They also offer awnings and chairs for those who wish to enjoy the ocean view, although the young people who attended us say that it is a seaside resort. You can enjoy the beach when the tide is low.

Este pequeño espacio brinda atención a los turistas ofreciendo comidas, café, cócteles y cervezas. Además, ofrecen toldos y sillas para quienes deseen disfrutar del vista al mar aunque, los jóvenes que nos atendieron dicen que es un balneario. Se puede disfrutar de la playa cuando la marea está baja.

Practically this is how far the tour took us. The end point was at the Heliport. The breeze here was strong. Drops of sea water splashed on our faces.

The sea was dressed in two kinds of blue. It provoked to jump from the top but better not to invent hahaha. They are just simple wishes.

We wanted to get to Chichirivichi but as I told you, the sea was choppy and at times the weather threatened rain. The tracks are not quite right and in that sense it was not prudent to move forward. We returned and made new stops until we reached a beach suitable for a dip.

I recommend you to take this little trip. I assure you that you will not waste any time and you will enjoy a magical day.

Prácticamente hasta aquí nos trajo el recorrido. El punto final fue en el Helipuerto. La brisa en este lugar estuvo fuerte. Gotas de agua de mar salpicaba nuestros rostros.

El mar vestía dos tipos de color azul. Provocaba lanzarse desde lo alto pero mejor no inventar jajaja. Solo son simples deseos.

Quisimos llegar hasta Chichirivichi pero como les dije, el Mar estaba picado y por momentos el tiempo amenazaba con lluvia. Las vías no están del todo bien y en ese sentido no era prudente avanzar. Retornamos e hicimos nuevas paradas hasta una playa apta para darnos el chapuzón.

Les recomiendo hacer este viajecito. Les aseguro que no perderán el tiempo y disfrutarán de un día mágico ¡Venezuela es simplemente hermosa!
