Staked SPS reward from Ranked Battles has officially begun

I played a couple of Splinterlands battles yesterday and I was brutally beaten by the stiff competition that persists in the game. I tell you this, climbing up the ranks has never been this difficult and I'm feeling the worse of it these days. The introduction of staked SPS tokens to ranked battle rewards and chests means that we will be seeing even stiffer competition.

For what it's worth, a part of me is pleased that we are where we are in the game. It has been a long time coming in the works, so it is quite pleasing to see that we have reached this point.

As we progress through the game, it'll become more and more evident that resources are very scarce. This scarcity will lead to even more competition and a greater level of difficulty in climbing up the ranks.

Oh, I remember the good old days of easy gameplay where pretty much anybody could battle all the way up to Champions league without too much hassle. Alas, even with my unspectacular deck, at the time, I was able to break into Champion 1 league on numerous occasions.

Then collection power came around and knocked me down a few steps. Now we're here, struggling with some tough opposition in silver and gold leagues.

As a regular player, the level of competition is lamentable since it means I win fewer games than before. It makes ranked battles very frustrating knowing that you're playing against a cunning player that's also trying to outsmart you in squad selection.

As an investor, I see things a bit differently and think that the higher difficulty due to a crowded lobby is a welcomed development. In fact, I want the game to become even more difficult as the days go by because it means that we're onboarding more players and we're growing as an ecosystem.

SPS reward means more competition

So, now that we receive SPS reward for participating in battles, it is highly likely that the competition for SPlinterlands resources will get even higher.

I believe players will be looking at SPS and thinking that this holds more potential than earning DEC. I say this because, first of all, earning staked SPS means you're earning an investment tool that is actually earning you more SPS and vouchers.

On top of the aforementioned fact in the previous paragraph, we also know that most of the incoming developments will surround SPS token. We also know that SPS is listed on Huobi and many other exchanges, so it is also likely to experience a proper pump in the coming months.

DEC is heading towards the peg and there's really not much to expect from it in the future. The value of SPS, on the other hand, will be determined by the market, giving room for more significant price fluctuations and a bigger chance to make a lot more profit from the token.

So if you're a regular ranked battle participant, you've probably noticed that you've been playing against more difficult teams and climbing up the ladder is much harder, no matter which league you are in. Expect things to get worse as the days go by because the rewards are also getting more enticing.
