Sleep is never really enough

Oh how I long to just stay in bed without a care in the world. Unfortunately, that's a luxury that oxygen breathers may never have until our last breath.

I think the worst part about doing night shifts is how it messes up the body clock. My body is struggling to come to terms with the fact that there's been a change in timing and it's screwed up my sleep.

Good thing is, I know it's only a matter of time till my body will take all the sleep it needs. So, while I might not be getting as many hours as I need now, I know it will come.

At the same time, I'm trying my best not to be too inactive while awake. The entire point of doing night shifts was to enable me do things during the day and that's what I intend to do, whenever I can.

I will eventually switch to afternoon shifts when I have my own mode of transportation. I'm still waiting for my drivers license but even before that, I might just buy a bicycle and ride to work.

Going to work won't be as difficult as returning and frankly speaking, the idea of relying on a bicycle for what could be a 30-minute ride in the middle of the night really makes me anxious but I reckon it is something that I can do.

An electric bike would be the answer but I can't afford one right now or anytime in the near future. Those bikes are even more expensive than some cars and the Nigerian in me will rather die than spend car money on a bicycle, no matter the benefits.

That being said, if I see a very cheap deal for an electric bike and I mean dirt cheap like it's stolen kind of deal, then I'll bite. It will save me a lot of transport money in the long run and a few hundred pounds on something that's also very fun won't hurt.
