Goodbye Twitter
I feel like it has been a long time coming, and this recent kick in the ass is probably the spark I needed to cut my ties with the social network. I had been holding on to Twitter because of sentimental reasons but I think I've outgrown the place and the place obviously doesn't need me.
For those that don't know, Twitter is the place I met my wife and because of that fact, I've been holding on to this fantasy that the platform is worth the stress. However, I have to face the facts and the fact is that I don't need the place anymore.
I'm not going to lie, there are moments that I've missed Twitter in the past 24 hours but the longer I go without it, the longer I realise how pointless it is. I always thought I needed it as a social media but all I see and feel is hostility from agenda-driven narratives being peddled on the platform.
I think what I hate most about Twitter is the way users talk about the platform like it is a necessity in life. 24 hours away from Twitter and I'm starting to miss it less.
I uninstalled it
The first couple of hours were probably the hardest, as Twitter is one of my quick-access applications on my homepage. I often instinctively hovered my finger over where it used to be and that kind of made it feel like there was a void in my phone.
Uninstalling Twitter from my phone wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. After realising that I got fully suspended and sent to read-only mode, I decided just to delete the application completely.
Why though?
Ah yes, why did I get banned, you wonder? Well, last time it was because of an interaction between me and my best friend but this time it was because I indirectly called someone a cunt because the person was peddling some gripe about an issue that they don't even know about.
Twitter said they're banning me for "hateful conduct" because I aired my opinion. Get this, I was replying a tweet about football where the person said far worst things but hey, I'm the racist guy who says "nigga", so they just slapped the charge as well. I can't be racist, almost all my friends and parents are black 😂.
I suspect that since the previous incident, they've put my account in the naughty corner and also limited my reach based on the number of views my tweets get. Now I'm the guy that's violating hateful conduct rules as well, a real monster.
Losing my Twitter account affects me in some way though, as there are a number of clients that reach me there. However, I'll be fine in the long run and besides, there's still LinkedIn, maybe it might be time to get in the groove of it.
So, I'm done with Twitter and considering what I sent to them in my "appeal", there's no chance my account will be reinstated. I wasn't apologetic but at least I didn't call them cunts, even though I was tempted to.

Good luck on your journey with LinkedIn. It is okay if it is becoming unhealthy, seems that Twitter's community standards is getting tight.
Good thing you'll be now more active on Leothreads.
Still nothing changes after Elon takeover... Thought freedom of speech is something real but well these web 2.0 never will let anyone say things freely and no one can stop us from speaking on threads.
The truth is these choice of words were a lil Out range Don't you think?
I hope the other person also get banned as well...
Yeah but that's not why Twitter banned the account.

These are problems the traditional social media users are facing and here on hive we are trying to solve these problems and issues
But unfortunately we have to use Twitter until we have a decentralized alternative of it with significant active users
I no longer have the app on my phone. My original account tied to my identity has been deleted for years.
I still have an account to check out things here and there or maybe participate in some crypto-related activities.
I am not even a twitter person. I spend months without twitter unless I'm so bored I can't feel my fingers. Anyway, I and twitter have yet to clash. Trust me, I won't even bother myself.

You can always use Leo Threads. :)
This and other similar Twitter stories reminds me about trend I had noticed years ago on Facebook. People in my country, which had belonged to opposing political blocs, began reporting each other for hate speech and similar violations and later publicly bragged when some of their opponents would be banned or suspended. All this began to remind me of the stories I heard about what went on in Europe in 1930s and 1940s and how many people took delight in pointing fingers at certain individuals, knowing that those unfortunates were likely to end in places surrounded with guard towers, machineguns and barbed wire. While there were other factors that made me lose enthusiasm for Facebook and why I tend to log off once in a week or so, this was the main reason.

Good Luck on Linked In! I think it is very valuable, and a few months ago 'I changed my profile quite a bit and this resulted in several businesses contacting me with work. So this maybe a blessing in disguise.
