Feels like a threat
So yesterday, we got a message from the school saying that my wife's account will be locked if we don't pay the school fees. That's my biggest fear coming to life.
We got the message yesterday and we were given a 7-day ultimatum to pay the fees. It feels like it came out of the blues but in reality, it was expected.
The school wants their money and we have to pay up. Are we close to paying? Well, not exactly but we will definitely be sending a part of the money before the end of the seven days.
All things being equal, we'd be able to send all that's required in 10 days. Four days after they intend to lock the account.
The way I see it, we have to be grateful for where we are right now. I honestly didn't think we'd be remotely close to paying the fees but here we are, discussing the possibility of actually paying what is left of the October deposit by November.
The good thing about clearing the November deficit is that it means we can start working towards the February payment earlier. All things being equal, by the time my January salary comes through, we would have paid up to half of the February balance.
Good luck.
It’s good to hear you can pay the fees and potentially the next one too, sooner!
Getting it done is very important. I reckon they'll still send us a threat or two by February but by then, we'd have cut it down to a few hundreds.
It is going to be a huge relief when we finally pay the fees.
How much have you paid prior to receiving the warning?
Be sure to communicate with them and If you’ve been given the chance, I’d recommend meeting them in person.
I don’t know exactly how that Uni operates but if this is the first warning then you’ve probably got some wiggle room to negotiate a payment plan. The action to close her University account is often what happens when students fail to respond to the warning I.e. the University sees it as a good way to get students who have previously ignored communications to come to the surface
The total for the first installment in October is 4318 and we've paid 2200 so far, so it's 2118 left. On Monday, we'll pay 1600ish and then send the rest a couple of days later. She'll relate it to the finance department.
She met with the finance department and they're adamant they'll take the action. In any case, we'll be done with payment before things start getting crazy and they involve home office etc.
Yeah it’s really not in the University’s best interest to kick out students and make waves with the Home Office over £500
That's what I was thinking. In any case, I'm on course to complete this part and then cover most of the February installment before the February deadline comes.
You came to a rich country, but you feel that you have to work hard just to survive. I will give you one piece of advice - invest in Hive, invest for many years. This is the best way to become a financially independent person.
Yeah mate, you're preaching to the choir because that's the long term plan. We just need to survive the next five months. After that, I'll start buying more hive and deepening my hive reserves.
I've been on Hive from the beginning and never left for a moment.
Hive is our hope. A capitalist from Europe will never give enough money to a simple worker to make him rich.
