Energy capture rate management
Despite playing Splinterlands for what has seemed like an eternity, I still haven't developed a system to manage my energy capture rate. Most times, I end up draining all the life from my energy capture rate and have my account generating rating points at snail speed.
Two days ago, I was frustrated by the state of my account's rating point generation because I had to play 8 battles to get one Silver chest. I found that to be unacceptable, as I believe my deck should be generating a lot more than that.
The thing is, brawling my way out of Bronze league hell took its toll on me and by extension, my energy capture rate. On top of that, I also had the unwanted situation of being trapped in Gold league too early and fighting for gold chests.
My situation means that I had to fight a lot more battles than I intended and that was a rather frustrating experience. My energy capture rate was further drained and it got so bad that I was barely earning any RP for my battles.
Managing it
I've still not developed a strategy to managing my energy capture rate because for the next couple of days, I'll allow it to breathe. It is not what I want but it seems like the best way to maximise my potential with my deck.
Yesterday, my ECR was below 10% for the first time since I resumed playing and that coincided to one of my worse Splinterlands experiences. I was brawling for hours and earning only two silver chests at the end of the day.
I gave my ECR some time to recharge from yesterday evening to today and all it took was three battles to get a Silver chest. So, letting my ECR recharge is quite literally the best decision I can make for myself right now.
When my ECR is close to 100%, I intend to implement a proper management plan that will either be based on time or gameplay.
A time-based management plan will basically involve selecting a time of the day when I brawl aggressively and then letting my ECR recharge for the remaining time of the day. The advantage of this is that I will most likely earn a lot more points initially but could suffer the same fate I'm suffering now if I brawl too aggressively.
The time-based system will only work if I find a way to contain my aggressiveness in battle. That's easier said than done, and this makes me feel that a gameplay-based system will be better for my ECR.
If I want to implement a gameplay-based system, I'll have to set a specific number of battles that I'll participate in every day and stick to it. I'll settle for any reward I get at the exhaustion of the specific number of battles I intend to participate in.
The challenge now is to pick an appropriate number of battles to participate in that I could easily recover from and have my ECR ready for more brawls.
In the coming days, I'll test out the two strategies and pick one from the lot. At the end of the day, I need to be able to maximise my potential in Silver league.
