Simple Things Of Life

People would always say that Happiness comes from within. I think in a way that saying is true though. Most times you will have inner happiness when you are at peace with yourself and your surroundings. According to the prompt, Creating happiness from within is a thing of Minimalism. Well, either way, I will always believe that I find happiness in simple things. Things that most people would see and question why I derive happiness from them.

In everything I do, I ensure that my daily activities are not ambiguous. I always ensure that my day is simple because that way I get to be calm and productive. I do a lot of things that bring me happiness and also lift and stabilize my mood regularly. One of them is meditation. I wake up each day having a few hours of meditation. I am not someone that would wake up and just go about her day. I have some alone time.

In Times like this, I get my coffee and then I also meditate on the good things in life, I meditate on how great my life has been. During this period of meditation, I am thankful for my life and it’s a period where I feel calm and at peace with myself and everything around me. My period of meditation makes me feel good and positive. I am always happy after every meditation. I will always say that if there is one thing that uplifts my mood every day then it’s the period where I meditate and I am grateful for everything around me. It is a simple act but it boosts my mood and makes me positive for the rest of the day.

I have also noticed that a few times i could be experiencing a terrible day and just a few minutes of taking a walk or spending time under nature could help boost my mood. I have an environment that isn’t filled with so much nature. But then the few nature around always makes me feel better. A few times I could spend my day under a tree or even take a walk around to see if I could see flowers and other plants. Most times spending time under this tree helps me stay happy. It shifts my focus to the positive things of life alongside the breath of fresh air when I carry out this activity.

Before now, I would always say that going shopping could make me stay happy but then I realized that I was either overspending or incurring debt for myself. I thought it made me happy but then whenever I came back from shopping I got extremely angry at myself for the amount of money I had spent and how it would affect me for the rest of the month. When I switched to being a minimalist, I figured out how little things could make you happy without even incurring debt, one of which is spending time with your loved ones.

No matter how stressful my day is, I try to spend an hour or two with a loved one, and honestly, it makes me happy. Sometimes we don’t do anything but then spending time in their company helps boost my mood. I could be going through the worst period of my day but immediately I am with a loved one, there’s always this happiness from within. It lifts my mood and makes me feel happy and at peace.

I came to realize that most times the simplest things are the ones that make us more happy without us knowing. Even an act of kindness to someone could boost my mood for the day. Staying Simple and living happily.

This is massive. You talked about how shopping makes you overspend and give you doubt perhaps you can survive the month.

This is the reflection of reality. Something we want badly might end up not worth it. We just have to live simple and be flexible with each day.

Thanks for writing this

Spending time with a loved one feels like such an incredible cheat sheet, doesn't it? Almost like you've hacked sorrow somehow. Sounds like you're pretty grounded. Good for you;)

It really doesn't cost much to be happy but we are so fond of looking in the wrong direction this age and time.

Your practices are very relatable and they are also proof that happiness can come from very little things...

Yeah. Reminds me of a line from “Remember This” by NF, “If money is where you find happiness then you’ll always be poor”

I knew I had to rearrange my priorities. Money can only satisfy in the moment. Once it’s me and my thoughts, the anger and frustration comes

You are right, money just satisfies us at the moment, i had to fix my happiness on things that money can’t really get.
