A World With Different Opinions

The saying that “People would always talk no matter what is true”. If you are extravagant people would want to complain, they would make comments like “Why do you spend so much”, if you are a minimalist people would still say “Why don’t you spend and enjoy your life”. That’s why I would always say that no matter how you choose to live your life, there would be people who would have a different opinion about it.

Being a minimalist has taught me a lot. I got to understand that simplicity in life is paramount. I got to also realize that when it comes to minimalism, it doesn’t involve just decluttering of your space, it also has to deal with relationships with people. When it comes to minimalism, I got to realize that it’s quality over quantity. Intentional reduction of physical and mental clutter.

I do not have many friends. That has always been a thing for me. I would always choose my peace over anything. Once I feel there’s always an issue or the situation is becoming toxic, I stay away. Most relationships could be draining especially when the lifestyles are not in line. Having an extravagant friend could be hard for a minimalist because at some point you would want to be swayed.

I have not encountered a rift or conflict in my relationship as a result of my simplicity or minimalism. I have a small circle of friends who I share a strong personal relationship with. My friends are the kind of people who do not judge and they feel like everyone decides how they choose to live their lives. Everyone has a choice on if they want to be a minimalist or want to be extravagant. It’s just a matter of choice and I appreciate that they also a simplified kind of life.

Regardless, I have encountered a situation with a friend of mine who had a problem with her roommate in school then, as a result of her simplicity. At first, they were friends who decided to be roommates and that meant their personalities would be out of the bag. They got to realize that they both had separate personalities. One was extravagant and the other a minimalist. This difference in lifestyle caused a big rift between their friendship and their being roommates.

When they both started living together, they would always want to do things together. But my friend who is a minimalist got to realize that the other girl would always want them to spend too much, she always wanted to waste things or want them to get things that weren’t necessary to them at that point.
They had arguments and then the minimalist girl was called stingy, and that she did not want to spend. Her roommate tried making her feel bad for her decision to live a simple life.

The only thing that was able to solve the rift was for them to stop being roommates. They had to go their separate ways, since their personalities weren’t aligning, and it was hard for the girl to accept and understand her lifestyle of minimalism. Either way, I am always happy that my friends understand my personality and they do not see anything wrong.
When it comes to my family, I would say my mom was the happiest when she learned about how I chose to simplify my lifestyle.

People who spend extravagantly shouldn't be spoken about wrongly though.
Like you said, we all have a choice to choose to live our lives the way it pleases us.

You are very correct, everyone has the right to live their lives however they want and shouldn't be judged for it.

Yeah it is very important for the city to have a circle of friends who respect each other especially about what concerns us including minimalism. Great writing

I've also witnessed two roommates fight physically because of this; I don't think two people with different perspectives can live together; it takes the grace of the almighty Sha.
