Wanting it so bad.
Looking at the way social media is trending and becoming a global market, the enormous amount of users and influencers alike leave me feeling awed. I'm now certain that indeed just as the sky is vast and no two birds ever collide, so also is social media.
I have always wanted to be a #Youtube influencer. Ever since I learnt that it was a "thing" and it could also be used as a source of income. The year 2020 exposed a lot of loopholes in the employment world and job insecurities as many people were laid off work with no benefit of pay but for those who had gained a foothold in the social media world, they were not affected as much.
A very good motivation came from watching the popular aproko doctor, who creates content on #youtube, using Nigerian pidgin English to enlighten his viewers on some medical conditions and how to avoid them. I have since longed to be a content creator, sharing my vibes with the world and youtube seems like a safe space.
Before thinking of going into youtube, I tried going into other forms of online work to add as a source of side income but I met huge hurdles.
I tried going into affiliate marketing three years ago but a coach I interacted with demanded for five hundred thousand naira (#500,00) payment before coaching would commence. I mean, what the heck! If I had half a million naira, would I still need a coach? I would simply go into forex trading easily.
Now back to the gist on ground. I love watching the life journeys of most influencers. It's like a mini reality show, hehe, talk about the Kardashian syndrome 😁.
I have always wanted to share knowledge and spread positivity to as many who would come online to view my videos. Plus, why hide my beautiful face from the world.
I hear comments like "Becky, you are a good teacher. You know how to break down complex phenomenon into simple ideas",. & "Becky, I love the way you smile and you have a soothing voice too". All of these are what I want to share with the world. It is said that if you've got it, then you flaunt it.
Why haven't I?
The first hinderance has been my phone. The phone I was using back then was really bad and not camera worthy to do what I needed with it. Scratch that, it was not worthy to do anything at all. I couldn't even present it outside for fear that I would scare someone with it. It looked like a walking bomb.
Another thing that held me back was time, since I'm pretty busy with school and other extra curricular activities. "What about weekends?" I hear someone ask. Well my weekends are practically booked with lots of activities ranging from musical rehearsals, private home tutorials to church fellowship and more. So weekend was and is tight for me.
Will I get to it?
That's a big....YES! I am currently working on getting a better phone, better than the techno spark phone I'm currently using which is still far better than the "walking bomb" I used previously. Once that is settled, I'm sure I can sneak in some few minutes from my busy schedule to just sit, face the camera and dish out all the goodness in me to the world.
To be sure that I follow through on this, I'm currently working on making my first video on hive. I have never posted a video here before but I'm breaking that jinx this year. I think I would start by making music videos and then progress as time permits. The deal here is that I would start. I know the journey would be tough but I'm tougher and I can't wait to see you all on the video side of my posts 😁.
