Earth is ours.
Colonization is man's way of showing dominance over the weak or underprivileged. In its actual sense, it refers to the act of settling among an indigenous people and establishing a form of control over those people. The control is usually over the resources of such a people. Anyone who controls the resources, controls the people. This was a common thing in the past era.
In the past, several countries were colonized by other seemingly stronger countries. For instance, Nigeria was colonized by the British, Angola was colonized by the Portugese while Cote D'ivoire was colonized by the French. These are only a few of the colonization history on Earth. Now with the advent of science and great technological discoveries, man is set to broaden his horizons and take a leap into uncharted terrains, all for colonization.
Some time ago, there was a wide spread rumour about Elom Musk building a hotel on Mars and the fact that the hotel fee would cost $5,000,000 a night. Hmm, I couldn't help but think of this as an outrageous course because from my little knowledge of science, I know that Mars cannot support life. "So how was this hotel going to be feasible?" Seeing the #inleo promt for today, I smiled cos this is an opportunity to learn something new.
Can we colonize Mars?
- Can Mars really be colonized? Are we tired of Earth so much so that we seek to take control of an uncharted terrain? These were some of the questions that played through my mind. Well, my answer on this is No, Mars cannot be colonized and I will buttress my answer with the following facts*.
Mars is about half the size of Earth, with a diameter of approximately 4,220 miles (6,800 kilometers). Too small for us Earthlings.
Mars has a rocky surface with numerous valleys, craters, and volcanoes. Who would want to live there?
Mars has a thin atmosphere and it is mostly composed of carbon dioxide. Yuck, humans need Oxygen, remember 😜.
There is no water on Mars. Not even a single criver or lake. Plus there is no atmospheric water too and without water, life cannot survive at all.
Mars experiences massive dust storms that can last for weeks or even months. If we were to live on Mars and something like this happens, how would we carry on with our daily routines? We'd be stuck indoors for weeks, till the dust storms cool off.
The average temperature on Mars is around -67°C (-89°F), which is much colder than Earth. Temperatures can also fluctuate greatly between day and night.
The thin atmospheric condition of Mars offers little protection against the harmful radiation of the sun and this could be detrimental to life.
There are so many other facts about Mars released by NASA but I will stick with these as I believe they drive the point home in simple and clear way. Earth is and will remain the only planet that can sustain life. Let's leave the other planets alone and take care of our wonderful planet, Earth. I think @fashtioluwa will agree, since he is an alien 😁.
Thank you all for reading. This is my participation to the #decemberinleo initiative for day 19. Compliments of the season to you all.

Hehehe
Thanks for tagging me
Now I’ll write to support the claim on mars with photo proof 😌😌
Maybe!
I love the fact that you pointed about mars
I recently watch an interview of Elon and Jack (the richest Chinese man) talking about mars and all. Jack was against moving to mars as he said we are not done discovering things we have on earth
So why go to mars and if there is an actual reason, they should let the world know, not the half bake truth of exploring the galaxy.
I also watch an interview about a scientist that explain how traveling at the speed of light can help us reach other galaxies but by the time they get back to earth an a proximate of 4million years might have passed on earth so we should just leave the galaxy alone
Abi oooo. Let's leave things the way they are.
If you like stake your claim. The truth has been said 😁
ahahaha, is ok. I will let you have this win
You better 😜😁
We are not done developing and tapping the natural resources which Earth has blessed us with and some people are planning to colonize Mars. Isn't that misplaced priority? How will they even survive up there? Mtchwem.
If they don't know what to do with money again, they should send it to m, abeg. Oniyeye 😂
Abi ooooo.
This was exactly my point when I first read the article claiming space X wants to start up a hotel project on Mars. If Elon no know wetin to do with the money, then here I am. I can help him do good deeds with the money.
With money ehn, nothing wey Musa no go see for gate o😁😁
Oyibo people and over doing things are 5 & 6. He's not done cloning himself, he wants to go to Mars. Don't worry, his ancestors are waiting for him there 🤣
Musa don see shege promax 😅
😂😂😂😂 no be small thing ooo.
Thanks a lot sis and season's greetings
This was a nice read with plenty facts.
But, with the way things are going, anything is achievable. It's possible to wear Mars with all these items you mentioned that are not currently available and amend the ones pose danger to humans. Elon musk and other wealthy people can construct plants to take water from earth to mars. God go just vex 😂
You really believe that?
Okay then, even if it's possible, how long do you think it will last. Carrying water or oxygen tanks from earth to Mars. What about freshly grown foods.
There's a limit to what science can do and this is one of them.
Thank you
