Financial Stability, My Journey So Far

avatar
What a lovely question from Hivenajia's weekly prompt. Hello, hivers! It is my great pleasure to write again on the blockchain.

Financial stability is something we all dream of, when you're financially stable to an extent, life will become so easy. We can be able to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, we will be able to spend more on charity and take care of the weak ones among us. There is nothing sweeter than not worrying about meeting our basic needs and still having some investment to fall back on.

This question reminds me of a certain time in my life when my restaurant business was booming. Because of the profit I was making, I didn't have to worry about money to take care of myself, my family, and my friends. And a lot of times I do make provisions for the less privileged in my community. Life was pleasant and sweet.

After our wedding, I had to relocate to Ibadan in Oyo state to join my husband. This made me close down my business for a while due to relocation in hopes of starting again when we settled down In Ibadan. But it wasn't that easy for me to start again due to my first pregnancy and some illness that accompanies it. Because of this, I began to deep my hands inside my savings. This was when I realized how useless savings can be when income stops coming in.

I was not strong enough to start up my business at that time, so I had no more choice than to fully depend on my husband and my savings. Even though I knew there would be great financial consequences.

After a year, things began to get hard. My savings were going and I couldn't start back my business immediately like I had earlier planned to. This made me sad. And I prayed I would get on my feet once again. Hubby's salary was barely sustaining us. I just had to do something before things got worse.

About a year ago, hubby was transferred again from Ibadan down to Kaduna state. At this point, I couldn't just continue to stay broke anymore. Thankfully I became strong again health-wise. I decided to go back into my restaurant business. Even though it will take me a while to rebuild again and get my financial status back, I'm gradually getting there.

In Kaduna, presently aside from doing my restaurant business, in my quest to diversify my income, I met a wonderful soul @funshee who introduced me to the hive. A while ago. She told me that if I put in the effort, this platform can become my financial backbone. Not only that, I can grow in knowledge and meet the most wonderful people I could ever imagine existed. And I can see she was right, my journey here has been simply amazing.

For this, I'm grateful to her and for all the support I have received

from everyone ever since I made my introduction post. I am really happy to be here and will continue to work both offline and online until I achieve my financial goals and beyond.

Being financially stable as a woman and a mom is non-negotiable for me. Most especially in the current economic situation, there is no way only hubby's income can sustain us.

This is my participation into Hivenaija weekly posting topic

Thank you for reading my post❤🙏🥰

This was when I realized how useless savings can be when income stops coming in.

I strongly disagree with that. Your savings saved you when you had no income, so savings can't be useless. Also, it's a no brainer, if you keep taking without putting anything back, savings obviously run out one day.

I hope you can get back to your business one day.

What I mean by savings is useless is that savings run down so quick when there is no income topping it up again.

Truly my savings saved me a lot when I was not earning anything. As for my business I'm working towards it.

Thank you so much

I totally agree with you 101%, and I can relate with everything you said because I was once there. If you don't have your own money in this present Nigeria, you will see shege pro max. God will help us

What a wonderful story from you. Being unstable financially can take emotional toll on a person unless we find something doing. Glad Funshee introduced you to Hive and things have started taking good shapes. Everyone craves a financial stability but the question is, are we willing to take the risk and do what it takes?

It takes a short while for a savings to be exhausted in the absence of more income. From your story, it shows that you are a strong woman with her eyes on the goal. Keep it up. God no go shame us.
