IT WAS A SUPRISE

James thought he was smart, he never saw a day like that coming.

James was born and brought up in a family where committing a crime means nothing to anyone, so he grew up with the same mentality, when he became a man he left his father's house, and he relocated to the city of Lagos, at first he couldn't afford to live in an open area so he lived in an area where criminal act where normal which affected him the more.

After some time, he got a job in a security company where he was posted from one estate to another; he never knew that there were hidden cameras in one of the estates where he worked, so he was just his real self

In every estate, James had this habit of stealing from the cars parked in the estate, he did this for a long period, and his fellow security guys would always ask him "Where do you see money to live this big when we are suffering?" He will reply "Is Godoo"" while he knows he was stealing.

He never imagined that his cup would be fillled up one day. This criminal act happened for more than two years, and James thought he was a professional in stealing, not knowing that his nemesis would soon catch him.

One day, James traveled to see his mother and the estate decided to change the camera to a modern camera, so the cameras were changed before James' arrival. He didn't know about it when he came back and resumed his usual act.

One day James' wife asked him "What if you got caught in this act? What if there is a hidden camera?"

"I have checked. There is nothing like a camera, if there is, we the security men will get to know about it," James replied.

"Hm, just be careful, I am having this feeling that you will be caught soon," James' wife told him.

There was an opening in the fence of the estate where someone could come in from, so the residents thought it was armed robbers who came in from the broken fence. They decided to fix the fence.

Unfortunately, the fence was rebuilt on the day that James did come to work so he never knew what happened.

James started committing an added crime, he sneaked into people's houses to steal, and he finally was caught

That faithful day, James went to work and he carried out his usual act he wanted to quickly sell what he stole but the guy who wanted to buy the stuff kept delaying someone living in the estate drove by and noticed what was happening, it wasn't quite long when someone started complaining on the estate group that his house has been robbed.

The lady who drove by recalled seeing James selling something similar to someone, so she immediately raised the alarm, James was not in the group, so he didn't know what was going on behind him.

The residents thought of how to approach James since they were not too sure, while deliberating on how to handle the issue, they recalled that there was a hidden camera that was mounted on the estate street lights.

They agreed to check the camera first before approaching James, but one of the residents was busy defending James, he said "Let's check the camera am sure it can't be James"
Unfortunately, he was disappointed by what he saw, in fact,
James had stolen from both his car and his house, and he was dumbfounded.

They called the company that employed James and told them everything, James was summoned for questioning, and he kept denying it; he even said "Do you have evidence? How can they wake up one morning and start accusing me?"

"This is unfair, I don't know what you people are talking about" he continued.
He never knew that the people saw everything he had been doing.

Immediately the estate chairman brought out his laptop and opened the camera footage for everyone to view and confirm if James wasn't the person in the footage.

James got weak, he now recalled the warning advice from his wife, but it was too late. He pleaded with the company and the estate resident, but no one was paying attention to him.

The police were informed about the matter, and they picked him up to their station, where he spent some weeks without food because his wife refused to come to visit him, which made his condition worse.

He was released after two months with the charge of paying back everything he stole from the estate and getting the money he had to work without earning a salary for over a year.

The wife left him for another man and he couldn't do anything about it.
