"Why are you this rude to her? She didn't wrong you anyway"

That was how the friendship started and it has lasted for over five years now.

Six years ago, I was traveling to Lagos state from the east, and that happened to be just the first time I traveled out of my state.

It's funny, but the truth was that I was so scared because I had never been on a big bus that had over 50 passengers, the lady behind me noticed that I was not just a novice but also scared, and she thought that was an opportunity for her to bully me.

But this other lady was sitting just beside our seat, and I never knew she was observing what was going on and she was waiting for the right time to speak out.

Firstly, the bully I sat with said my sit which is close to the window, was the sit she booked for, but she would allow me to sit for a while, then I would come over to her sit which I agreed to because I knew nothing, but the lady beside us was just paying attention to everything.

It's a night bus journey so there were just two stops for people to stretch out, during the first stop this lady ordered me not to come down and that I should be looking after her goods, which I obeyed, but the lady beside came in and asked me, "Babe why didn't you come down to stretch?"
"My neighbor asked me to look after her bags" I replied.

She said "For what? Are you her house help?" "No" I replied.
"Please please I have been watching you both, I thought maybe you were related but since you're not please don't allow such rubbish again, you paid for the transportation just like her, so you have equal rights, don't allow her to bully you again,"

Immediately the lady came onto the bus she ordered me to step out of my sit, that she wanted to stay at the window side, I told her I wouldn't do that again, "Why won't you do as I said, we own this sit together so I have right to sit there anytime I want" she said.

I didn't reply to her, "Are you deaf?" She said, and immediately, the other lady stepped in and asked her, why are you rude to her? Is she your house girl? Both of you are passengers and her ticket proves that she owns the sit, so why are you bullying her?
"How is your business?" She asked, "Is it my business because I have been watching how you have been treating her since we started this journey, and that will have to stop this moment?" She said, "Babe, what's your name?" "Am Beauty", I replied.
She said "Am Ogechi, nice meeting you".

That was how we exchanged contact and became friends, fortunately, she was going to the same Surulere Lagos where I was going too, so she helped me with a taxi that was heading to Surulere Lagos because I explained to her that it was my first time coming to Lagos and I don't know why am going to.

She too, came to visit her aunt, so she was going to spend two weeks while my vacation was three weeks; she extended her stay to 3 weeks so that both of us could go back to the East on the same day.

Till date we always call and check in each other, whenever i visit Abia state I will always check on her, if she also come to lagos she will also come visiting me.

That was how a random event made us friends.
