Saying Goodbye to the Old Pineapple Plant
What Can I Say, Decisions Had To Be Made ..
Hello again, fellow readers! Today, I want to share a little story about a decision I made that involves a tiny, sweet fruit and the promise of a new beginning. Yes, you guessed it right - I decided to part ways with our old pineapple plant.
You see, this little plant of ours had been a trooper, producing sweet fruits that brought joy to our taste buds. But lately, something didn't seem right. All the leaves started drooping towards the ground, and let's be honest, it didn't look good. So, after some thought, I decided it was time for a change.
I know it might sound like I'm rushing things, especially with spring cleaning and all, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling. I'm thinking of this as a mini New Year resolution in action.
So I took the plant out to the back yard, close to the compost pile, and removed her from the pot. I tossed it upon the compost pile and never looked back. lol. As you can see a few other items made there way to the dead zone at the end of the season. I still have a few more that should be heading there soon.
Now, I'm not an expert gardener, but here's the plan .. come May, when the weather is kind and the nighttime temperatures are a bit warmer, I'll snip off the top of another pineapple and plant it in our garden. The idea is to let it soak up the sun and grow happily. By the end of summer, I hope to pot it up, and by then, it should be all settled and ready for a new chapter.
Getting Ahead Of Myself???
I might be getting a bit too excited, planning well ahead into the future, but there's something liberating about letting go of the old to make room for the new. Plus, it might just help me check off a point on my New Year's resolution list - you know, the one about cleaning up and getting rid of things I don't need.
So, here's to fresh starts and the promise of a thriving pineapple plant come summer's end. Sometimes, it's the small changes that lead to big transformations.
Goodbye, old pineapple plant, and hello to a new beginning!
Tonight's sunset. I thought I would share since it was so pretty. I was writing this post and watching it slowly set in the distance.
I agree with you, it didn’t look good. Good luck in May.
yes.. thank you!
I do wonder what the problem was. You said you've gotten fruits before? Odd.
Merry Christmas!!
They get that way after providing a few pineapples. It may have bounced back, but not worth it. It was getting too lanky anyhow.
Best of luck with the new pineapple when the time comes. I never pulled my garlic from last year that didn't turn out, so I am looking forward to seeing if it grows again next year.
Yeah I was hoping your garlic would be awesome.. next season maybe
Well, many plants do have certain lifespan and it looks like the pineapple reached the end of hers. It makes me wonder how long mine will last. I’ve never gotten fruit from mine.
It takes a looooooooong time to get a fruit. took us almost 5 years. And yes.. she was at the end of her life.
Mine must be nearly that old…
Sometimes we just need to let go of somethings
oh yes we do. I need to let go of a lot of junk. And I think it is time.
Such plants are not easy to protect but their advantage is that they add a lot of beauty to the house and it is good that you have bought a rare plant by replacing it.
It was the right time to let it go. I'll start a new one and that will be fun.
