RE: No-one cares

the people who turn up and 'care' when you're at rock bottom are often not the people who will 'care' so much when you're flying high. I think its probably a moot concept. The illusion of care is subjective and circumstantial. More significant is the eradication of fear. Most of our fear is majoritively irrational and holds us at arms length from positively experiencing the astounding reality we find ourselves in. Getting out of bed only to discover that life is exactly as painful as you feared it would be is not necessarily the answer. Because lets be honest, its pretty horrendous out here. UNLESS you have tackled your fear of it. Does it help to go out and realise that friendships are difficult to find and to maintain without massive compromise? Does it help to remind yourself that the system is oppressive and restricts you from achieving your dreams? No. But guess what. If you stop having inflated egoic dreams like having a best friend, or having your favourite job, or things working out in a convenient, non-triggering fashion.....then life can start to become a lot easier to appreciate. You probably identify with lots of these things....e.g. ' but if I give up my dream of being a doctor then who will I even be?' or 'i need to find friends who appreciate my taste in music' or something like this, but none of these are the real you. These are just constructs. And guess what? You don't need them! In fact you're probably actively using them to hold yourself inert because you're ego is terrified of disappointment, failure, humiliation, sometimes even success and commitment and stuff like that. Stop being yourself. You are standing in the way. The you who has no self is fully liberated. Free from expectation and preconception, free from grudges and resentment, free from fear and desire. Mystics have been exploring this stuff for thousands of years and unsurprisingly theyre bloody good at it and theres tonnes of incredible literature out there. But nothing is more potent than you, looking inside yourself and cutting away every last piece of false, delusionary, egoic, constructed, desirous horseshit thats holding you prisoner. We dont do it very much in the west. few will understand you. But guess what, when you get in to, you wont give a damn. There will be some dark nights of the soul along the way, but the other side of the tunnel is overflowing with peaceful, joyful, fearless connection to the present moment and you will glow like the ripe fruit that you truly are.
stop mucking about in the shallows and get to the real cut-throat work.

sorry about that rant, not sure what quite came over me :p

I did! and I enjoyed it. Just to clarify, I wasnt aiming that final sentence at you; 'stop mucking about...' etc. I was just feeling the fire and spitting some brimstone. I cant remember what set me off on such a tirade... must have been the wrong side of the bed :p
But I do think that a certain amount of ruthlessness can be helpful when tackling the self and all of its hindrances, limiting beliefs, fears and so on. I don't feel anyone should be expected to 'shape up' for what is essentially a very unhealthy society. best to 'shape down' and go in search of something authentic within yourself (maybe....just my experience....everyone has their own journey of course. I needed to be sliced in two by someones words to change my life around, so I guess I try to approach things with a similar energy - not always appropriate!)
