Surrealism - A rainy day in the rabbit hole

it's hard to imagine anything more surreal than Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.

Each line of this work is full of surrealism and it is very difficult to be original if you had the opportunity to illustrate some plot of this fairy tale, or, to come up with your own line of development of events.

Surrealism can lurk in simple things, for example, a simple, pouring rain will be very surreal if it comes inside a rabbit hole.

Yes, rainy weather is what may have been happening in the rabbit's hole before Alice got there.

You know that the old caterpillar was sitting on the mushroom head, and if there are mushrooms, then it must be raining, or, on the contrary, but it doesn't matter anymore, surrealism is not subject to some canons and consistencies.

This was my next picture, which I called "Bad weather in the rabbit hole".

Below, I will tell you about my train of thought and show each character in the picture.

The idea of ​​creating this picture did not appear immediately.

I didn’t know what I would paint, I was looking at the archive of my photographs and trying to find a starting point, who is not always easy to draw.

As you can see, I chose the tree photo I took to get started, using a slow shutter speed and light camera movement.

At first glance, there is nothing interesting here.

But, looking closer, take a closer look. I saw outlines that looked like a Cheshire cat, which appeared out of nowhere and disappeared whenever he liked in the famous fairy tale.

I circled this area with a red line, now, and you see a cat, or something that looks very much like a cat, but this, as we said, in surrealism, does not matter.

The tale did not say what the mushroom was on which the caterpillar sat, but most likely it was a hallucinogenic mushroom, lol.

Yes, the cat got eyes and I started drawing a caterpillar.

In Lewis Carroll's fairy tale, the caterpillar smoked a hookah, and I wanted to replace it with a smoking pipe, but there was little surrealism in this and I ended up with this idea.

So the idea was born to create inclement weather in a rabbit's hole and the caterpillar opened an umbrella.

If you ask me where the caterpillar got the umbrella from, then I’ll ask you an eternal question ... where does the caterpillar get the hookah from?

You are already familiar with this character, this is a Cheshire cat, which was distinguished by its very strange behavior.

And, of course, there must be the owner of the rabbit hole, himself, the rabbit, who is not very friendly with his brain, he is difficult to understand, surrealism lives in his every thought.

Why does the rabbit lie on the grass in the rain?

This is not a very normal rabbit, everything is clear here.

He looks at the golden clock, which counts down the time until the heroine of the fairy tale, Alice, appears in the rabbit hole.

But where is Alice?

It's not very simple, Alice must go through the dark tunnels of the rabbit hole before she ends up in Wonderland, but her silhouette at the end of the tunnel is already visible.
