A hobby is a thing that apparently can never be too much sometimes systematically and sometimes accidentally a new hobby appears that captures attention.

But, as they say you can’t embrace the immensity and somewhere when there are many hobbies the accents are concentrated and somewhere a weakness appears and as a result some hobby can come to naught.

It’s good when the subject of a hobby is inanimate objects for example coins or postage stamps a collection of calendars or something else that can be stored without your participation for many years and after a while you can return to this forgotten hobby.

But about fifteen years ago we started collecting orchids and it all started with one orchid that I gave to my wife.

Over time there were more and more of them it’s hard to remember all the shapes and colors of flowers that regularly bloomed on our windowsills.

Many orchids produced babies which we transplanted to fresh substrate and they took root well.

But, a year ago, everything changed.

Apparently there is nothing eternal under the moon and orchids, as living organisms obey this.

At some point we saw the beginning of the decline of our orchids which began to rapidly wither and nothing helped them get stronger.

One day we bought special soil for transplanting a palm tree a date palm which my daughter grew from a date seed and it was already cramped in a flower pot and she needed a more spacious apartment.

About a week after transplanting the palm to a new place we saw that all the soil was moving these were many small mites similar to tiny aphids of a whitish color which covered many plants in addition to the palm and we also saw them on the orchids.

Our daughter was more keen on botany than anyone else and was looking for methods to combat this invasion of parasites that quickly oppressed the plants with their presence but either the methods of combating them were aggressive or these insect-like creatures were too tenacious but they were able to do their dirty work and destroy both the palm and the orchids.

As a result collecting orchids came to an end for now we do not risk getting new orchids, because there is a risk that in some flowerpot with other flowers the eggs of those parasites may be sleeping.

In the meantime the only constant hobby is drinking coffee lol yes this is the hobby that never lets us go.
