In search of my own drawing style.

One day my wife really wanted me to buy myself an expensive classic suit and we went to a specialized store where the most exquisite creations of tailors hung on hangers.

I'll be honest I don't really like such pretentious stores in which even the cleaning lady will walk with her nose in the air and look down on you.

I just grew into my Levi's jeans and I didn't want to change my assex sneakers for tight classic shoes but I agreed with my wife because it is desirable to come to church and business meetings dressed respectably and that's why we ended up in that store but I didn't know what to look for and trusted my wife to choose the suit.

We were the only customers there and the staff initially thought we just came to look at the clothes at an unaffordable price, but when they realized we had serious intentions the store turned into an anthill with the store staff running around some bringing suits, some bringing shoes and some trying not to fall unsealing ties and shirts on the run.

I was incredibly tired trying on all this but regardless of the price or manufacturer of expensive clothes my wife and I understood that it fit me like a cow.

Therefore after a few hours realizing that this was not my style we went to the Levi's boutique and bought me new jeans.

Sometimes it is difficult to decide on a style and this applies not only to clothes but also to the style of drawing painting or other type of art that you want to master.

Something catches your attention and something makes you understand that this is not your style.

Five years ago there was a period when I decided to try to change my drawing style and I then drew with a ballpoint pen with blue paste but I decided to try other styles or directions and one of them is drawing with colored pencils.

It is interesting to try to do something new, but in the process comes the understanding of whether it is yours or not.

I then drew a sailboat sailing on the ocean under a parade of planets.

I had no such experience before but I decided to understand this style for myself and started working.

An experienced artist will immediately understand what and how to draw but for me it was a blind swim in the fog in the hope that at some point my ship would reach the shore.

It was funny to remember how in childhood I colored coloring books this is something similar.

The wax structure of the leads of colored pencils resembles working with crayons something similar but not that lol.

In the end maybe I didn’t get the worst drawing in color but that’s what didn’t hook me like a fisherman hooks a fish it’s not my style that’s how it seemed to me then and that’s why I only returned to colored pencils a couple of times hoping that I just didn’t understand something but everything was the same.

But when two years ago I decided to try drawing with graphite pencils I just dove into an ocean of possibilities it was something I put on like a suit and felt that this suit fits me well and over time it can become even better than it was at the time of purchase lol.

I can always tell if someone is lying just by looking at them.
I can also tell if they’re standing.

Greetings @barski ,

Artistic expression is very personal indeed.

Familiarizing yourself with other means of expression from time to time has its benefits even if all it does is confirm your original choice. It's true if you cannot make it your own...it will not make it into your own rendering of artwork.

It can turn out lovely...just as your sailboat did under the parade of planets....your style shows through....very lovely work!

I like to call these one-offs in my own experience...applying the skills I have to something new can produce something quite lovely...but the idea itself is foreign to my artistic expression....That's not to say some of the ideas do not integrate into one's own ideas ..it is just not in the way one thought it would.....hope that makes sense.

Kind Regards to you and your family,

Bleujay

Thank you @bleujay for such a wonderful comment in which the idea of something alien is very correctly noted, yes, this is absolutely true and the word is very appropriate, but I cannot exclude the option in which I just did not fully understand this matter, as sometimes it is difficult to understand the taste of aged cheese, you need to understand it, and love for it comes later.
Have a blessed evening! !BEER

How many magicians does it take to pull a rabbit out of a hat?
One. It's a trick question.
