Grand Bazaar - İstanbul
Hello Dear @Pinmapple Page Friends;
You all know Istanbul a little bit. Istanbul; It is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world and also one of the oldest capital cities. Because, with Ankara becoming the capital of the Republic of Turkey, which was established in place of the Ottoman Empire, which collapsed in our recent history, Istanbul has now come to the end of its journey to become the ancient capital.
Istanbul, which has a perfect location in terms of its location, hosts millions of visitors every year with its districts located on both sides of the great strait passing through it. And one of the most visited places in Istanbul is the Grand Bazaar, which was built approximately 600 years ago. Come on, let's share a post with photos from my short visit to the Grand Bazaar.
Despite having an old history, the Grand Bazaar is one of the rare structures that are still in use. Of course, it has gone through various restoration periods over the years. In fact, while I was studying in the Department of Economics at Istanbul University between 2010 and 2015, it went through a restoration process in some parts of it during that period. I guess there must have been some of our friends on this page who visited Istanbul. Among you, our dear friends, there must have been some who saw the Grand Bazaar. If you have seen the Grand Bazaar, you must have noticed that some of the ceiling sections have been newly painted. When you look at these and similar renovated sections, you will see that they are almost faithful to the original.
Of course, some parts of the Grand Bazaar were different when it was first built, frankly I don't know because I don't know its history, but ultimately it is still in use and needs intervention to continue its use. As long as the restorations are done in a way that tries to match the original.
You can find many different product shops in the Grand Bazaar. Among these; types of soap made from natural products, chess sets made of different types of metal or wood, jewelers, diamond dealers, old lamp sellers giving the impression of the Ottoman period, carpet sellers, rug sellers, sellers of decorative ornaments for homes, shoemakers who appeal especially to women, sherbet sellers who try to preserve old tastes, etc. .. There are shops selling many different products that I haven't even thought of yet. You should definitely come here.
Yes; No matter how much we write about the Grand Bazaar, which is one of the most beautiful bazaars in Istanbul, and even in the world, and which preserves its old structure, or how many photos we share, we still cannot describe this place as we wish. We cannot describe this place without visiting it, without putting our feet on the ground, without feeling its historical texture, without looking at the shops that appeal to our eyes, without drinking water, without shopping, without wandering around its corridors.
I would like to thank @Hive and @Ecency platforms for giving us the opportunity to share. I would also like to thank @Pinmapple page.
See you in another post. Take care of yourselves.
@barika Yes, it's not really like being in the place and experiencing the history of the city, you are right, but the photos as you have taken them make you have that imagination and transport you, reading a little bit of history. I loved your photos and the comments to get an idea of the country.
