Wednesday Addams

Hey hheeyy~~ good day~~

How are you guys? It's been some days since I've finished watching Wednesday on Netflix, and I have to say, I really love how they made this Netflix series! I mean, it already has some sort of popularity because of the Addam's family connection, but the series as a standalone was great too! I do think Jenna Ortega played the lead role nicely and managed to maintain that ever stoic expression Wednesday has always had.

I'm torn with my opinion on the rest of the characters though because I still favour the old movie casts compared to the series. They can't seem to compare to the old characters but they came close and I really aplaud them for it. The modern twist was much appreciated and refreshing too, though more vintage elements would have been a better highlights here.

To show my love for the series and for Wednesday Addams herself, I madde a fan art!

Here is my take on the poster they released a few weeks before airing!

She honestly doesn't look much like Jenna Ortega since apparenty, ny brain is so fixated on the movie version of Wednesday where she was still played by Kylie Ricci. I hate my brain for it, but I love the end result of my drawing for today UwU

My problem wit this was also symmetry, but since I already messed up the eye proportio, I thought I'd just let go of my symmetry fixation this time and just focus on finishing the piece.

Here is the progression shots

I started with a shade of violet here since this piece was a very very impulsive drawing idea. I was just happy my lab partner was finally done watching Wednesday so that we could have more stuff to talk about. SO while we were talking and waiting for the samples to be taken to the lab, I started my sketch and she told me what she thought about the whole series. It amuses me that she enjoyed it

Pink layer next, this is to give her that base color on the skin and since she seemed a little tanned in the poster, I went with this base color

Then I topped this piece off with an orange, brown and black layer to give it the shade and shadows it needed. I do think I gave it a bit of that Tim Burton feels too since he was one of the directors of this series, and I was so happy to see his name on the ending credits.

Materials used: violet, pink, orange, brown and black ballpen
Duration: 3 hours because I had a lot of distractions

Okay, this is all from me tonight. I still have so much art to share so stay tuned to those!

Still thinking if I have the time to do her digitally ;;-;; I still have a few pending I keep falling asleep on. And I'm always faster traditionally, don't know why I can't have speed digitally

Ahh, well that's a good thing to be fast. You've got a strong foundation then. You'll get there if that's what you keep working on! You can always keep your traditionals tucked away and have a nice library to choose from whenever you feel like making a digi piece. TY for initiating the Wednesday idea ❤️‍🔥

I always have a nice little portfolio in my bag, it helps, but I like making digi from scratch too since I don't enjoy the comparison 🥲

You did mention you finished the series! So what better way to show appreciation as artists! I'm excited to see your pieceeee!

I feel the same .. nothing compares the old cast but jenna did justice to Wednesday's character. Lately I've been obsessed with Wednesday... especially her dance she did at the ball....You drew her well. The drawing looks great . Kudos to you 👏🙌😍

Seeee
My biggest complain is still Morticia and fester! I feel like someone else would have been able to do more justice, but the casting still worked for the series so it's not all that bad

I am always surprised at people who can drive such wonderful art as it is a bit difficult for me to draw))

Perhaps some practice and object study is in order. You can't improve if you don't tru
