Astrophotography (testing)
The Monster-1000A continues to delight me with its capabilities. These pictures were taken one day before the full moon. And this is a great success, because on the day of the full moon, the sky was covered with clouds.
I processed the first picture in the Lightroom, cropped it to 100% scale, added sharpness, changed the toning. But in order for the test to be honest, I will show you "clean" results without processing.
This picture was taken without a tripod. I put the lens on wooden stands. There is no subway line under my house, I can assume that it does not vibrate. That is, it is the most reliable support for the lens.

Then I took a series of pictures from a tripod, for which I had to go down to the yard.
ISO250; 1/200 сек
crop about 100%
The tripod showed convincing reliability even at such a low shutter speed for it.
Some observations and conclusions.
First, the moon moves across the screen. While I was fiddling with the settings, she managed to pass a quarter of the screen horizontally.
Secondly, the moon is not really the color that we see with the naked eye. I saw an orange in the sky, but if you set the automatic white balance, the picture turns out to be almost colorless.
If we go a little bit in the direction of cold tones...
In fact, we get a "mirror" or a matte reflector of light. What kind of light hit, this is the color we get.
I think that being in the middle of the forest I could get clearer and more reliable photos. There are too many parasitic light sources in the city.
The general conclusion, I was glad to buy a lens and a tripod. The money was not spent in vain.

Now we are talking! :) Beautiful captures! I love when there are clouds, by the way, as they add some drama and uniqueness to the scene ;)
I think it would be hard, not impossible though, of course, to achieve crystal-clear and sharp, no blur highly zoomed pictures of the moon, as even with the tripod, let's not forget the Moon is moving :) So that would rather be high ISO values, high shutter speeds and from my experience, the blue hour works best as the contrast between the Moon surface and the sky isn't that big at that time frame.
With your 1000mm lens, the aliens now have to go hide at the dark side of the Moon! :P :D

Yes, I saw the movement of the moon on my monitor. But I think that the clarity of the picture was more influenced by city lights, this parasitic illumination. For such photos, you need to get out into the forest.
Blue hour... maybe it's just that the moon is not always in the sky at this time. Sometimes it rises much later. Although, I saw her during the day))
I hope to see green men there, but I'll have to stock up on a barrel for that !BEER

Probably that "blur" is combination of many factors. I'm quite busy lately but I may try the same exercise with my telephoto lens at 400mm and then crop.

I agree, there are many factors. I don't remember if I turned off the camera stabilizer... he may start fussing too. In general, we need a clean experiment in the forest on a full moon))
