Game development possibilities on Hive
Game development on Blockchain has always been a fascinating thing. The main reason is because people are able to use the features of blockchain to build their games. Gaming is mostly associated with rewards and fun. For the fun elements, the game mechanics would help but for the rewarding part, there is not much in the real-world game. Blockchain helps in rewarding a regular game and that's what makes blockchain games a special one.
People try to make use of these opportunities and build games on top of blockchain. WAX is one such blockchain that has so many games. Not just WAX but there are several other blockchains that have successful games. Splinterlands is one such successful game and it is on Hive. People think that Hive is a blogging platform but more than just a blogging platform, Hive is definitely a great platform to build games. The success of the game depends on the concept of the game and how it goes in line with how blockchain works. The rewarding possibilities are explored and fulfilled with the help of tokens and NFTs.
Making use of Hive or HBD or creating tokens on Hive Engine
Hive has so many game development possibilities mostly to do with reward. People can either choose Hive as their primary currency or HBD if they prefer to have a stable cryptocurrency or create their own token on Hive Engine. The founder of the game will have complete control over the game and the game assets and will be able to plan the tokenomics really well. The game developers can also make the players spend their real-world money to purchase Hive assets and play with those assets. There are a few games on Hive already providing that facility.
Creating their own token is always considered to be the best approach because they can define their own tokenomics and how the token has to work. Things can be a little challenging if Hive or HBD has to be reused. Some people don't like Hive Engine and that's one of the reasons why they want to have the game dependent on the first layer token instead of a second layer token that is not fully decentralized like the first layer.
NFTs on Hive Engine
Hive Engine actually created a lot of possibilities for game developers. The early game developers who built their successful games on Hive paved the way for newer games to be built here. They came up with a nice concept and those concepts gradually started becoming a foundation for any new developers. NFTs are something that comes with a facility to hold some data on it. That's what makes it unique and we can even create unique NFTs based on the need. This way people can build games and make use of NFTs inside the game either as game assets or to share some perks with the players. Hive Engine has this facility to create NFTs.
The token and NFT distribution can be planned very well and can become a possibility with the help of Hive Engine. The developers also have the flexibility to change the properties of an NFT based on how the game mechanics have to work. This is one of the biggest features we get with NFTs and that's what makes blockchain games more special. The rewarding experience is also very good with NFTs and tokens. If the concept of supply and sink is planned very well, the game would be going very well. People will not only be able to have some fun playing the game but also earn by playing games.

I strongly believe a lot of more projects will be built on hive as time goes on
Indeed. That will also create a lot of opportunities.
Due to the very cheap fee i. Sure there will be more games will be built on hive block chain and that is going to be very good for the ecosystem if hive.
Yeah sooner or later there will be more games on Hive. 🙂
that is good to hear ❤️😱🙏
Yeah, I don't see a reason to create your own token. When you can just use Hive/HBD.
Also HE is just a 1%+ tax on your player rewards system. That your player pays.
This has always been my opinion for a long long time and I have seen nothing being developed on Hive that has changed my mind.
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on a few things. Having our own token creates so much freedom. We can have our own tokenomics and the freedom to mint based on the need. With Hive and HBD, that's not a possibility.
It is not mandatory that you have to use the 1% bridge that Hive Engine team is offering. You can use other bridges that offer as low as 0.1% fees which is definitely reasonable.
Plus Hive Engine has provisions to create and Mint NFTs that are very important for a web3 game.
So maybe your perspective has to change. 😉
This conversation is to nuanced for a text back and forth. I may do a @3speak video soon on this topic.
Nothing you have said changes my mind. As all those points are valid from you view but easily countered from my mine. Which is why this will be better as a video response.
Take care.
Apart from NFT's and tokenomics, there are other possibilities like gaming you mentioned in the Hive ecosystem and technological infrastructure Hive already has.
Gaming and web3 be also coordinated to make the games more lively, vibrant, attracting and beneficial for blockchain users.
I am waiting for the newer annexation, if it does - more people will be there to grab the chances to join and engage.
Hope those projects come soon.
The blockchain complications makes it hard. It is not as easy as playing a web2 game. The game might look like it but if they want to earn, they have understand web 3 concepts which is definitely not easy to understand.
It's the same way today that we're seeing new games come out and people aren't playing them yet because the market is moving and the prices are so low that the market will start to go up. So we will see all the people will start playing the games once again and the way we know that first you have to deposit money and buy NFTs pieces then you can play the game.
Yeah there are many games with lack of players. Especially because the market is not looking good. Maybe people might start playing games when the market is better again.
The concept of having fun for a while and that during that moment of fun we receive some reward, is what makes the topic quite interesting.
I hope that there are more and more games and more people are joining in participating in games and creating and improving games.
Yeah many people are joining Hive for games and not for blogging.
