Redmi note 12 : Unboxing and review [ENG/ESP]
Ever since my pc developed a fault I've had to go back to using my mobile phone for most things again. My phone had issues for quite some time, but I didn't really focus on them thanks to my pc. Now that my pc is temporarily gone, my eyes were opened to the flaws of my phone, and I realized I couldn't cope anymore. Which was why I had to buy a new device.
Long before I was gifted my now previous phone (Huawei y9 2019), I'd been doing my research on redmi phones, and I had my eyes on the redmi note 10 pro. According to some reviews I saw online the note 10 pro is still better than the 11 series, and even competes with some of the latest versions. So I was ready to buy it, but then I couldn't find it anywhere. It was then someone recommended I buy the redmi note 12. I did my research, and I liked what I saw so I set out to get it. Apparently some say it's the budget king (meaning I get more for less)
I got mine for 135,000 naira (approx 180 dollars). It is the 8gb 128gb variant.
In the box
In the box you get a clear phone case, sim ejector tool, the device, and a 33w charger and cable. Not much, but considering how some phones come nowadays (I'm looking at the phones), this is nice.
The specs
it has a 5,000mAh battery, 8gb ram, 128gb rom, a 13mp selfie camera, a 50 mp main camera, an 8mp ultra wide camera and a 2mp all set up nicely at the back. It also has a fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, Ir blaster, loudspeakers. The screen is protected by gorilla glass 3, it has an amoled display which has a max refresh rate of 120Hz, and it has an ip53 dust and splash resistance rating. This is the 4g version. Mine is the Onyx gray version (I'd have preferred the ice blue version but I couldn't find it).
What I like about it
I have only been using this phone for a week and a day, but I have to say it has grown on me and I have enjoyed using it so far.
The first thing I noticed when I got the phone was how fast it charges. Obviously I had to charge it before powering it up. When I plugged it in, it was 66 percent, and I timed it. Within 24 minutes it was fully charged. That's insanely fast speeds, and even now it's still that fast. Each time I plug the phone to go do something, I'm always marveled at how quickly it charges. The 33 watt charger is really fast, and even when I charge it with my power bank it's still fast (though nowhere near when it's with the charger). And the cool thing is that the battery lasts long. Unless you're literally on a very power intensive game for 24 hours round the clock there is absolutely no reason this shouldn't last you the whole day. The battery is really good. And its power efficiency is nice. You can also put it in power saving and ultra power saving to go even longer. I guarantee it would probably last more than 2 days on ultra power saving mode if you're just using it moderately.
The refresh rate is something that was marketed so much. On all their ads I'm always seeing 120hz refresh rate, amoled display and all that. So I was excited to use it when I first got the phone. I didn't notice the difference, so I put it on 60Hz because it saves more power. But then recently I switched it to 120hz, and oh my God it was something else. Everything felt super smooth like butter. Scrolling felt super satisfying. I had to turn it back down to 60Hz though, I felt I wasn't ready to wield such power, 😂.
The next thing I love about it is its responsiveness. I got the 8gb ram version because I wanted the smoothest running I could get and so far I'm not disappointed. You can extend the ram an extra 5gb using virtual ram from the storage space and I did that so I won't have any issues. So far there's been no lags whatsoever. I'm not afraid of opening any app at all because I know my device can handle it. And it does it so well.
Then we have the camera. The device takes pretty decent pictures and videos especially in sunlight. I wouldn't say it's spectacular, but it's great and you can take a lot of great shots with it. Soon when I get some photography skills I'll probably be using it to take some cover photos for my hive posts (bye bye stock images).

Another thing I love about it is its customizations and little features that just make things convenient. Like how I put this little slider that opens a to-do list at the side of my phone, or how it makes sure you input your pin or password at least once every 3 days so you don't forget it after getting used to using fingerprint or face ID, or this cool feature that allows you to open apps in small boxes whenever you drag down notifications, just so you can see what's going on without having to stop what you're doing. Pretty great for multitasking if you ask me. And you can do it for multiple apps at once.

Honestly I could go on and on about the things I love about it, but let me stop here. There are still some things I'm yet to try, like the Ir blaster. So can't say for those yet. Also I don't have the mind to test its water resistance.
Things I don't like
Honestly it's really hard picking out things I don't like because I have enjoyed using it so much, but I'll just try and reach deep a little.
Let's start with the camera. The camera is good in well lit conditions, but once there's little light it does poorly. For night photos it's not good enough. Then we have the macro camera. I'm not sure, maybe I'm the one who can't do macro photography, but it doesn't take great macro photos for me. At least not as effortlessly as the main and selfie camera.
There's this paper at the back of the phone with a bunch of bar codes and ID. It just takes up a lot of space and reduces the phone's beauty (as you can see, I'm reaching a bit to find things I don't like).
I really enjoy using the device and hopefully It serves me well for as long as I have it. It really covers a lot for it's price point and is probably why it's regarded a budget king. Please enjoy my unboxing video.

En la caja
En la caja viene una funda transparente para el teléfono, una herramienta para expulsar la sim, el dispositivo y un cargador y cable de 33w. No es mucho, pero teniendo en cuenta cómo algunos teléfonos vienen hoy en día (estoy mirando a los teléfonos), esto es agradable.
Las especificaciones
tiene una batería de 5,000mAh, 8gb de ram, 128gb de rom, una cámara selfie de 13mp, una cámara principal de 50 mp, una cámara ultra ancha de 8mp y una de 2mp todas muy bien acomodadas en la parte trasera. También tiene escáner de huellas dactilares, jack de auriculares, Ir blaster, altavoces. La pantalla está protegida por gorilla glass 3, tiene una pantalla amoled que tiene una frecuencia de actualización máxima de 120Hz, y tiene una calificación ip53 de resistencia al polvo y salpicaduras. Esta es la versión 4g. El mío es la versión gris Onyx (hubiera preferido la versión azul hielo pero no la encontré).
Lo que me gusta
Sólo he estado usando este teléfono durante una semana y un día, pero tengo que decir que ha crecido en mí y he disfrutado de su uso hasta ahora.
Lo primero que noté cuando recibí el teléfono fue lo rápido que se carga. Obviamente, tuve que cargarlo antes de encenderlo. Cuando lo enchufé, estaba al 66%, y lo cronometré. En 24 minutos estaba completamente cargado. Es una velocidad increíble, e incluso ahora sigue siendo así de rápida. Cada vez que conecto el teléfono para ir a hacer algo, siempre me maravilla lo rápido que se carga. El cargador de 33 vatios es realmente rápido, e incluso cuando lo cargo con mi power bank sigue siendo rápido (aunque ni de lejos cuando está con el cargador). Y lo mejor es que la batería dura mucho. A menos que estés literalmente en un juego muy intensivo de energía durante 24 horas, no hay absolutamente ninguna razón por la que esto no debería durar todo el día. La batería es realmente buena. Y su eficiencia energética es buena. También se puede poner en ahorro de energía y ultra ahorro de energía para ir aún más tiempo. Te garantizo que probablemente duraría más de 2 días en modo ultra ahorro de energía si lo usas moderadamente.
La frecuencia de actualización es algo que se comercializa tanto. En todos sus anuncios siempre veo 120hz de frecuencia de refresco, pantalla amoled y todo eso. Así que estaba emocionado de usarlo cuando recibí el teléfono por primera vez. No noté la diferencia, así que lo puse a 60Hz porque ahorra más energía. Pero hace poco lo cambié a 120hz, y oh Dios mío era otra cosa. Todo se sentía super suave como la mantequilla. El desplazamiento era muy satisfactorio. Aunque tuve que volver a bajarlo a 60Hz, sentía que no estaba preparado para manejar tanta potencia 😂.
Lo siguiente que me encanta es su capacidad de respuesta. Me compré la versión de 8gb de ram porque quería el funcionamiento más fluido posible y de momento no me ha decepcionado. Usted puede ampliar la memoria RAM de un extra de 5gb utilizando memoria RAM virtual desde el espacio de almacenamiento y lo hice para que no tenga ningún problema. Hasta ahora no ha habido lags en absoluto. No tengo miedo de abrir cualquier aplicación en absoluto porque sé que mi dispositivo puede manejarlo. Y lo hace muy bien.
Luego tenemos la cámara. El dispositivo hace fotos y vídeos bastante decentes, especialmente a la luz del sol. Yo no diría que es espectacular, pero es genial y se puede tomar un montón de grandes tiros con él. Pronto, cuando adquiera algunas habilidades fotográficas, probablemente lo utilizaré para hacer algunas fotos de portada para mis posts sobre la colmena (adiós a las imágenes de stock).

Otra cosa que me encanta de él son sus personalizaciones y pequeñas características que simplemente hacen las cosas más convenientes. Por ejemplo, este pequeño control deslizante que abre una lista de tareas pendientes en el lateral de mi teléfono, o cómo se asegura de que introduzcas tu PIN o contraseña al menos una vez cada 3 días para que no lo olvides después de acostumbrarte a usar el ID de huella dactilar o facial, o esta función genial que te permite abrir aplicaciones en pequeñas cajas cada vez que arrastras las notificaciones hacia abajo, para que puedas ver lo que está pasando sin tener que dejar de hacer lo que estás haciendo. En mi opinión, es genial para la multitarea. Y puedes hacerlo con varias aplicaciones a la vez.

Honestamente podría seguir y seguir sobre las cosas que me encantan de él, pero permítanme parar aquí. Todavía tengo que probar algunas cosas, como el Ir blaster. Así que no puedo decir de ellos todavía. Además no tengo la mente para probar su resistencia al agua.
Cosas que no me gustan
Sinceramente es muy difícil elegir cosas que no me gustan porque he disfrutado mucho usándolo, pero voy a intentar profundizar un poco.
Empecemos por la cámara. La cámara es buena en condiciones de buena iluminación, pero cuando hay poca luz lo hace mal. Para fotos nocturnas no es lo suficientemente buena. Luego tenemos la cámara macro. No estoy seguro, a lo mejor soy yo el que no sabe hacer macrofotografía, pero a mi no me hace buenas fotos macro. Al menos no tan bien como la cámara principal y la cámara selfie.
Hay este papel en la parte posterior del teléfono con un montón de códigos de barras y de identificación. Simplemente ocupa mucho espacio y reduce la belleza del teléfono (como se puede ver, estoy alcanzando un poco para encontrar cosas que no me gustan).
Realmente disfruto usando el dispositivo y espero que me sirva bien durante el tiempo que lo tenga. Por favor, disfrutar de mi vídeo unboxing.

The tecno Camon is another wonderful series. I saw someone talk about the tecno Camon p20 pro in this community a day ago and it seems nice. It has a better camera spec sheet than this one sef (we know sometimes spec sheets don't tell the full story),this one beats it in one or two things as well. I think you can rip that paper taking extra space off though. It looks like a sticker (from the pictures I see of the back).
As for the photography, you might need a little bit more time figuring out the best settings and tweaks to make in your camera settings to give you the best photography results. I think you’ll get a hang of it in a month time with constant practice.

Hehe, Actually @olujay uses the note 10 pro. The one I initially wanted to get. I stalked that phone tire. For months I was constantly asking olujay about his device and looking at his posts for his photos. Since that one wasn't avaliable I did some research and I got this one cause they're similar. This one was released earlier this year ( so I think it should have more features).
Hehe, I'm used to having a little less sensitivity when scrolling, so it'll take some time to adjust. And moreover 60Hz is more battery friendly so I'll just stick to it. Maybe once in a while I could use 120hz just for fun. Lol.

Are you sure the note 12 pro is up to 300k? Where I bought mine I think I saw the price for the 8gb 256gb variant at around 200k oo. I wanted to buy that one, but I didn't want to wait and I didn't have up to that.
