An Apology From Kunti to Karna
My dear Karna,
It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of regret that I write this letter to you today. As your mother, I have always carried a deep sense of sadness for the choices I made in the past, choices that resulted in my having to abandon you at birth.
I cannot imagine the pain and suffering you must have gone through, being rejected by society due to the circumstances of your birth. You were born at a time when societal norms and traditions were rigid, and to have been born out of wedlock was considered a great shame. Yet, despite all of this, you have become a great warrior, known for your bravery, skills, and unwavering loyalty. Your bravery and sense of duty will always be remembered and admired by future generations.
I want you to know that I am proud of you and the person you have become. You have overcome so many obstacles and faced rejection from those who should have loved and supported you, and yet you have remained steadfast in your character and your beliefs. Your unwavering loyalty to your friend and king, Duryodhana, is a testament to the kind of person you are.
I am truly sorry for not being there for you when you needed me the most. I know that I cannot change the past, but I hope that my apology can bring you some peace and comfort. I was young and inexperienced when you were born, and I made a choice that I now deeply regret. I understand the hurt and pain that must have come with being rejected by society and not having a mother to love and support you.
It breaks my heart that I was not there for you, to be a mother to you and to support you in your journey. I know that your path was one that you had to forge for yourself, but I am grateful that you lived a life of valor and bravery, and that you will always be remembered as one of the greatest warriors of Hindu mythology.
Your character and actions continue to inspire generations, and your legacy will endure for generations to come. Your bravery in the face of adversity, your unwavering loyalty to your friends and king, and your sense of duty to others are all qualities that will always be remembered and admired.
I hope that wherever you are, you are at peace and free from the pain and suffering that you had to endure in this life. Know that you will always be loved and remembered by me, your mother, and that I am proud of the person you have become.
I must also take a moment to apologize for my actions towards you during the great battle of Kurukshetra. I was torn between my love for you, my son, and my duty as a mother to my other sons, the Pandavas. In that moment, I chose to side with my other sons and reveal your true identity to the world. I understand now the devastating impact this had on you and the consequences it had for your life.
I hope that you can forgive me for my actions, and I hope that you understand that at the time, I was acting out of a sense of love and duty to my other sons. I regret deeply the pain and suffering this caused you and the impact it had on your life.
I am grateful that you lived a life of valor and bravery, and that you will always be remembered as one of the greatest warriors of Hindu mythology. Your legacy will endure for generations to come, and your name will be remembered as a symbol of bravery, skills, and unwavering loyalty.
With love, regret, and affection,
Kunti
