The growth progress of the ginger plant that I had planted In a bucket
HELLO HIVE
Ginger is a good plant with so many health benefits, and the fact that you can grow a plant with so many benefits indoors makes it even more accessible and interesting to give a try. I am excited to share the progress of the ginger I had planted along with some tips and observations that you may need to plant yours or improve your work if you're into it already.
Getting started with how to plant the ginger rhizome
I began this journey by planting fresh ginger rhizome now rhizome is the growth part of ginger and to get the best it has to be fresh, it has to be healthy and then soaked in a bowl of water overnight before planting it.
Now, when growing ginger in any container you have to make sure that the container has drainage holes to avoid waterlogging the roots of the plant since ginger thrives more in warm, humid conditions.
The first few weeks
Patience is an important key when growing ginger and the first thirst of that patience is how long it took before the ginger began to sprout, at some point, I was even planning to dig it up and see if there was any progress underneath the ground because it had taken more than a week already but eventually, it did start growing after I noticed the first green shoot emerging out of the ground.
But once the shoots start emerging then it is like the whole thing comes to life, the growth is more rapid and within a month I had multiple stalks.
So don't be discouraged if it doesn't grow on time gingers are slow growers.
Now by the second and third month, the ginger had filled up the bucket you can see and now it is only a waiting game on when the harvest will be ready.
As of now the plant is still in the growth phase though there are some signs of the leaf turning yellow for some time now I don't think that's a cause for concern, overall it has been a nice experience, especially for someone trying it for the first time and I hope you guys will also give it a try.
We don't have good soil to plant such a nice ginger but I see bucket may safe me with a good soil and environment.
